yes del it happens to me too especially when I am over tired or in pain.

Like a lot of people we have to have our dinner at tea time and this for me is completely the wrong time to be preparing meals. (I know i should start to prepare late morning to make life easier but always find other things to do :? )

Hope your taste for minced beef returns.

It is not food, but I went off coffee after my op for 3 weeks and drank tea instead. Still doesn't taste that good yet.

I know I'm in a real flare when all I want to eat is one small bag of Hula Hoops (followed occasionally by a small amount of ice cream) and all I want to drink is full-fat coke. My appetite is currently reduced due to pain. I think your loss of appetite reflects your current situation, del, what a bummer. :( DD

I lose my appetite when I have a flare up, also when I have to increase the morphine. Hope you get your appetite soon as it's not good to lose it more than a couple of days.

    Hi Delboy,

I know exactly what you mean for the loss of appetite, you get your favourite meal all cooked, plated up get it in front of you and wham, dont want to touch any of it.

It normally happens when the pain increases a lot or it goes to a nasty flare up, or when medication is increased. it doesnt take much to make you go off your food.

Hope your appetite returns fast, as my mum always said, get that down you as you need all the nutriments you can get.

I certainly know that one matey.. If it's not the pain making you feel so sick you cannot eat, it's the meds that make you lose the appetite altogether. Is with me anyway. I can tell the difference too.
When it's pain, I actually want to eat, with the meds I only eat cos I really have to. My recent daily diet is a few satsumas and maybe if I posh the boat out a bowel of cereal.. Woohoo. Lol
No wonder I've lost over a stone since starting the sulfa.

It can be very annoying though, especially when, as you say, something you normally love is in front of you and you just can't eat it..
    Hope things settle soon matey..

    Tone Tone!!!!!

don't eat a bowel of cereal  l dont think it sounds good for you at all

l can tell teh diference bewteen not eating due to meds and pain, but it's not based on whether l want to eat at all...can't put my fingers on it...l just feel full and eating luckily happens because we have 3 kids in the house and l have to sit down 3 times a day.

Welcome to the forums BOUNCE!! Hope you feel at home very soon.

    Love

Pain meds almost always kill my appetite. When I need them regularly I operate on the 'a bit of what you fancy does you good' principle regardless of meal times, especially if what I fancy is fruit, cereals, toast, nuts or anything else that's reasonably nutritious and takes very little preparation.
