Hi all, now i dont know what to think, consultant who was not nice has phoned me to say there is a problem with my liver count and is sending me blood forms for repeat tests,so why would a consultant call and not clinic nurse if there is not a serious problem or am i just thinking the worst, she did talk about liver scans depending what the blood tests show. Mig

Hi Mig, i know its hard, do try not to think the worse. It mite just be the case that the consultant got this info and had an oportunity to deliver this info themselves.

Try not to worry, at least they are monitoring u hun.

    Take care ((((x))))

Perhaps she rang in an effort to make amends. I have had my consultant ring me whilst I have been on holiday, telling me that arrangements were in place for an emergency blood test. Sometimes consultants can appear to be human beings rather than demi-gods. :) Don't fret mig, get the tests done and I am sure that if you are in some sort of a hole you can be dug out of it: I had a liver scan when I returned home (my liver figures had shot up a humungous amount in two weeks) but all was well, and five years on it still is. Good luck and let us know how you get on. DD

    Hi Mig,
I've had exactly the same thing happen to me last summer, the way it works here (North West London) is that if anything out of the ordinary shows up on your blood test it goes straight to my Rheumy, she rang me and said that my liver was causing concern?! and to go and have another blood test done immediately, which I did, it turned out to be a 'blip' a mistake caused by the lab that screens the blood. My Rheumy nurse told me that this happens quite a lot, but ofcourse they have to take each case seriously.
I hope ive helped, do let us know how you get on Mig, Thinking of you hugs ((()))

I wouldn't put too much by the fact that it was the consultant who rang you, mig. My husband's surgeon rang him the evening before a minor op to ask if he could come in earlier. Apparently he has a reputation for doing his own thing & bypassing others.

    Hi there
in all probability it was just a phone call from the consultant as it would have been brought to their attention. Try not to read to much into it.

My last Consultant rang me at home with results, the way it works is results that need explaining the consultant usually rings you so if you have any questions they can explain everything there and then on the phone with you. Basic results general blood tests or x-rays the receptionist/Secretary calls. Hope that explains it .
