House move - GP Letter Question

I have an opportunity to move to a property that has a downstairs toilet and shower and was asked if I could get a letter of support from my GP.
I just wanted to ask if anyone else has approached their GP for this kind of letter and if they charge a fee for this. prior to where I live now I was in bungalows and although this new property isn't a bungalow it would help with having these facilities downstairs.
My wife has problems also with severe Pancras trouble which when this flares up brings on sudden sickness although she can move a lot quicker than me again it would be helpful to have these facilities at ground level.
Just wanted some advice before I made contact with the GP.
Thanks.

Hi Justin
Your GP will have been aksed to do this sort of thing before. He has l think got teh right to charge, but unless he is not very nice l expect he wil do it for free.
Good luck and l hope you and your wife will be very happy in your new home.
Love

Thanks everyone, I did put all the drs details down and was surprised when they asked for a letter supporting why I need this and that.
Hope everyone is feeling ok as can be in this cold weather hope it warms up soon.0 -
My practice used to have a lit of charges up but, on the odd occasions I'd to ask for something, refused the money! If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi,
I'm afraid your GP has every right to ask for a fee.
8 years ago I needed a letter listng the meds I was taking as I was going to Greece and didn't want to be be stopped for taking drugs into the country.
He actually took £10 ftom my hand after writing the letter.
This GP had known me for at least 30 years and we were on first name terms.
I offered it thinking it would be refused.
Its probably more now.....May0 -
