Hello again all!
I haven't been on this forum for a long time, i dont know if many of you can remember me but i was in a real state around 8 months ago, since then i have started college, playing football, going to the gym, socialising with my friends, my life is completely diffrent thanks to the medication and physiotherapy, it truly is amazing! I am near enough pain-free but get the occasional ache which soon goes if i sit down for a little while. I have a question that im concerned about, i was granted DLA but i will be starting work in a few weeks (4 days work ,1 day college) This is called an apprenticeship, do i need to let DLA know about this or does it not matter? Will the amount i get change or stay the same?
Hope your all well!

Hi Rhys
Brill news from you. So pleased that "no news was good news". Congratulations to you, starting an apprenticeship in a few weeks. Cannot help you on the DLA question but HAD to reply to your positive, happy thread. Someone will be along, shortly, to put you on the right track with your query.
You look after yourself, Rhys, you will go far. You know where we are should you need us.

Hello Rhys and so pleased things are looking up for you! Brilliant news.
According to the Direct.Gov website, you are obliged to tell the relevant people about any change in your health circumstances and it gives a disability benefits helpline number to call to report any changes.
Here is the website link for you http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/MoneyTaxAndBenefits/BenefitsTaxCreditsAndOtherSupport/Disabledpeople/DG_10012424
Good luck with the apprenticeship!

RHYS!!!!!!!!
Fabulous to see you
Of course l remember you, by teh heck you were suffering and waiting for some help. It eventually came and now look at you
I am so very pleased.
DLA is what is known as a non-contributionary benefeit and is payable no matter what you earn.
You should not need to notify them that you are about to start your apprenticeship as such, but if you are worried that your health has improved so much that you might not be entitled to it anymore you could perhaps speak to someone. Maybe CAB would be agood idea??? Or you could ring the number Tilly has posted??
Fantastic to hear from you...don't be a stranger!
Love

That really is excellent news and a great encouragement to others new to the site.
I am positive that work does not affect DLA and you do not need to tell them about the apprenticeship. DLA is not means tested. However you are supposed to tell them about any changes in your health since you qualified for DLA but best to wait awhile and see if the improvement continues first as it is early days. They can take DLA away at any time if they decide you no longer qualify.
