I have recently switched from Methotrexate tabs to Methotrexate injections.

The side effects from this have been pretty horrible, upset tummy and tiredness.

I am hoping that its just the switch over and it will settle down soon as I am feeling pretty yucky.

Got a doctor appointment on Tuesday just incase.

Hi Debra Kelly. Sorry to hear you're having side effects from the meth injections. Did you get the same from the tablets? My Rheumatologist is trying to get the injections for me, but my PCT say I can't have them because I didn't ask for them when I first came off anti TNF. I didn't even know about them then!
I think you're right to see your doctor soon , and hopefully get it sorted. Best of luck.

Yes I got the same from the tablets, but it settled down after a few weeks so I am hoping the injections will do the same.

    Mints on standby! lol

    Hi.

I had terrible nausea and stomach problems when on the tablets, but I found that the injections stopped all that. I still feel extremely tired the day after the injection, but other than that, (and numerous episodes of being taken off methotrexate for liver problems, which is another story in itself  ) I found the injections far superior to the tablets.

Hope you get the same result. x

    Hi Debra,
I too had awful sickness on the tablets, but once I changed to injections initially I was fine. However, 2 weeks afterwards I did have some nausea, my Rheumy then increased my folic acid to everyday except for the day of injecting the metho, and from then on I've been fine.
Please do mention it to your dr when you go back, and let us know how you get on? Sending comforting hugs your way ((()))

    Hi Debra,

Really hope the side effects settle down very soon - it is grim when we have to inject and that makes us feel yuk. As Toni suggested an antimetic from the doc might help.

Hello Debra it should be the other way around. the tablets make you sick and injections help solve the proble.

If you suffer tummy problems with the tablets its because they inflame the tummy, the injections bypass the tummy so it should help you feel better.
However Mtx is a nasty thing and can have lots of side effects. You really need to talk to your Rheumy nurse if it doesent ease off.
