OA AND JOINT REPLACEMENT

Maybe a silly question but if you have oa and have had the joint replaced thats effected do you still have oa in that joint ,

    mmmm bertyboy not a silly but a confusing question :wink:

    I would have said....thinking of mils knee as she had that replaced that cause it was prosthetic there was no oa there any more.

    Then again I could most certainly be very wrong

    good question to get us all thinking :D

    Berty what a good question, I would have thought that they get rid of all the worn away bone...but Im not sure if it could come back or not....hope its not.

    i fell over and had to have a thr the consultant said in years to come you will have arthritis in there.
    some times i have pain there but i have had the thr 16 years now.

    l have often wondered about this.....if Oa affects cartilage....which l thought it did :?

    they only replace the joint so...wont it still be there??? not hurting because the joints are not 'you'...??? What an interesting one this is should we put it to the helplines???
