Is there anyone on here with OA who gets DLA?
Just wondered if it's harder to get it with OA than it is with RA and Inflammatory arthritis's.

I'm still not convinced I should be applying for it, but Husband, brother and sister all tell me I am worse than I think I am :o

I have OA in (starting from the top) neck, various parts of my spine, fingers, left hip, knees (worse in the left), feet and toes. Physio at pain clinic said he thought I had some degree of spinal stenosis and my lumbar spine xray also showed some sort of damage due to any old injury (could have been one of many falls over the years). I also get RLS I think, unless the strange pains/spasms I get are due to my back problems.

Oh dear! I have never written it all down like that before, doesn't sound good

I am not at joint replacement stage for hips or knees, my spine causes the main problems.

I suppose really I am asking if you think I was right in filling in the DLA form? I don't want to be made to feel that I am a phony, although I filled the form in honestly.

you did right to try for it...you have nothing to loose other than the time it took you to fill it in. You do sound to have a lot of health issues there :(

I dont know whether it is easier to get when you have RA over OA, but think that ot's not easy to get these days anyway.

    Fingesr crossed for you!!

I was granted DLA at high rate mobility and high rate care three years ago with a two year award, osteo arthritis in the right knee at first then both knees.

I applied again when the award was due up and was awarded high rate mobility and medium care, life award.

I filled in the forms honestly and provided some medical evidence I got from the consultant.

Put in your claim and tell the truth, good luck.

Last year someone reported me to DLA and I was investigated, under surveillance three months then interviewed on tape under caution, then lost my award in December.

I don't know who the whistle blower is but jealousy 'cos I had a Motability car I suppose.

I am awaiting the decision being reviewed then appeal if not successful.

I have also put in a new application, that will be looked at if all else fails.

I have also complained about the investigating officer because he has lied in his report to the decision maker. He didn't have much against me so had to prefabricate a few things and the decision maker has taken his word. I'm hoping to have all the extra made up evidence removed, if so that will reverse the decision - fingers crossed.
