Hi, can anyone tell me if I will get results from x rays there and then? I have an appt with gp on wed, and I'm hoping she will send me for x rays. Will they tell me anything then or will I have to wait? I have not been diagnosed yet but I have a strong suspicion that it is arthritis and the nurse practitioner thinks the same.

Thanks

As far as I am aware, you are not usually told anything then and you will not get the result immediately unless you have gone privately. The result will go back to your gp and it takes anything from 2 - 7 days. My daughter was told immediately after a chest xray that she was not suffering from pneumonia so she did not have that worry but she had to wait to hear the result from the gp.

    Hi
Yes usually you have to wait......unless its your consultant that sends you for an x ray.....in that case it can be different. He has sent me, I've gone to x ray dept and then gone back to his office and he has brought it up on his computer and talked about it.
The ones when the GP have sent me to a hospital for one...... I have to go back to her to get the results.

Not in my experience. You normally get told your Dr will have the result in a week.
Having said that they do get them quicker sometimes.
I don't think the radiographer is allowed to twll you.

Hiya, In my experience it can be anything from 5-10days.
Although the new computer system at our surgery is now linked in and can get reports etc quicker this hasnt happened for an xray for me as yet.
If doc sends you for some they may not, and do not, always show anything. I suggest you ask to be refered to see a rheummy for a diagnosis.

    Take care

I belive results go to the person who requested them, but I have been in A+E and they gave the results right away they then did a CAT scan and told me that result also - it was not goood news.

    Hi PU

my expereinec is; l have been sent straight away, (here you can just walk in and join the queue), but the results go back to the GP (or whoever sent you). They say about 10 days for results but when there has been something showing on my Xraysl have had a call from the docs surgery to go in.

    Good luck

    Love
