Just be open and honest with your gp and then they will know just how to help.sending((((()))) Mig0

I don't have OA but Mum did and she sometimes had terrible knees. Sometimes they would get very swollen as well as painful. Hopefully your GP will be able to see exactly what is going on. Tell it like it is!
best of luck.0 -
Just wanted to wish you good luck at the docs.. Tell them everything you can think of, even if it might seem trivial. I've got OA in both knees (and more recently RA) and it's no picnic, I really hope they help you.
Maybe you can ask for a pain clinic referral?
Best wishes, let us know how you go on...Me-Tony

Best of luck at the Dr, I hope they listened to you and are sorting out your pain. It sounds like you need an appointment with Rheumatology and some blood tests done to see what type of arthritis you have. Hopefully all goes well for you today.
Big hugs Rita.0 -
The best thing is to be as honest as you can and tell your GP everything that is going on. We don't know if it's OA or anything else - and he may not either - but once he has listened and had a think or three he may well be able to help you with better pain relief, possibly order some Xrays and/or blood tests and then perhaps some answers can be found. Do let us know how you get on. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi
thank you for all your messages,it was lovely to hear from you all
My GP thinks its OA like in my other joints,iv got voltarol emugel to apply 4 times a day, she examined my knees and im going for a x-ray tomorrow, she's written a word that looks like creptis on the form,il be looking that up lol.....0 -
For got to say,she wont refer me to the hospital because of my weight.
she said they'd go on about it, i am overweight but its not overeating, its partly thyroid and its painful to exercise, so not sure what to do about that.

Hiya
crepitus is when ur bones creak, grind, grate, pop, click etc... usually a sign of OA Hope you get the help you needSarah

Hi Gilly
that's a good start isn't it? If the Xrays show really bad OA your doc may have to refer you....maybe you should ask her when you return for the results...and if not how does she expect you to loose weight??? Dietician??? What ideas dose she have??
Love

Hi everyone and thx for your replys...
well my x rays on my knees came back normal, the receptionist gave me my
results, but im still in pain when i stand from sitting, going up/down stairs, an sometimes when justsitting, if i sit with legs stretched out straight ,bending them is agony.
I will go back to my GP in couple of weeks if im still the same.
does anyone have any answers /suggestions?
I hope to get confident to post on others posts, but everyone seems so much worse than me... :?:0 -
Something that is entirely immaterial on here, Gilly, is the degree of struggle: one hurty joint (wherever that may be) is just as bad as five, ten, or all of them: it's all an affront and an outrage. I reckon we all understand the pain and frustration but the one thing we are not is doctors. I have no answers to your situation but something is obviously not right. Do you sit with your legs supported? I rest mine on the footstool (which is the same height as the sofa seat) and I have to have a pillow under my knees as my legs don't lie flat anymore. Do your joints feel hot to the touch? Do you find that heat or cold helps the joints, i.e. hot water bottle or a bag of frozen peas? Are they worse in the morning or evening after the usual day's activities? What pain releif are you taking? I am sorry if you have answered any of these questions before, my memory at the moment is not that wonderful. Stay in touch, come and talk to us because we do understand how tough and frustrating things can be. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi dreamdaisy
thank you for your reply,i realise peeps on here aren't doctors i just wondered if anyone else had same problem.
Nothing really helps my knee pain, its the same whatever time of day, same with my other joints, unless i do too much then its awful lol... i do sit with my legs up when on sofa, i have lymphodema in right leg after having cellullitis in the summer...
i take tramadol/celcoxib/nortriptylene...for pain, i have OA in my lumber spine/elbows/fingers.
I get fed up like others on here, sorry 4 moaning on lol
take care
