Now you lot know me by now, I'm not sentimental or that easily moved but I am so saddened by his death. He lost his sight, his work, his wife and now his life all due to a winker called Moat who himself lacked the courage to face what we laughingly call 'justice' for his crime. David Rathband was one thousand times more a man than feeble Moat could ever have been.

When I read about David Rathband passing away I too was saddend he was a policeman who by far makes him a hero and Moat took that away from him. And that led to his marriage ending and now he decided he couldn't carry on. Very sad, feel for his family.0

it was so sad to here about David Rathband
may he rest in peace...god bless him0 -
He was also in a lot of pain. He lost so much because of the actions of one man.
I feel for his family and friends,

I spent part of the morning (10 to 11am) listening to a tribute on Radio 5Live. They had been in touch with him since those dreadful early days and today not only did I hear exerpts from interviews he gave (requested by listeners) but also the most moving testimony from a retired fireman, who has been helped by the charity that PC Rathband established for those injured whist carrying out their public service duties. His charity has filled an enormous gap in provision - but the irony is that nothing was in place to help him. I know our lives have been changed by arthritis but today I reflected that, actually, I am fortunate in that I can still see, still hear, that I don't have to learn a new way of communicating with people.
The world became a richer place when Moat died but it is now so much poorer without courageous PC David Rathband. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -

Thank you for posting this DD.
I too was saddened when I heard about this on the radio news.
I for one will be praying for his family.
