I hate nightime

I am beginning to dread the nightime. I get to sleep ok, but very often wake up after a bad dream or because I have moved and something has hurt. It is then that I struggle to get back to sleep.
It is very rarely that I sleep in after 5am (6am is a lay in for me)
Went to bed at 10pm last night, awake at 11.45, scared after a bad dream and aching all over, pins and needles in my hand. I just lay there and cried for 15 minutes, then got up to make a milky drink which sometimes calms me. I felt so spaced out and upset I just sat there staring into space for a while.
I tried playing Scrabble on FB which I am usually good at, but lost miserably to my opponent, but at least that got my brain in motion and I was able to sort myself out and get back to bed by 3am.
I didn't hear Mr PS go to work and just kept shouting at the cat who was hammering on the bedroom door for his breakfast. I just didn't want to move. My daughter woke me up in the end when she rang me at 8.30am
At least if you add it together I got over 7 hours sleep, not bad for me.

Hope sleep gets easier hun, know the feeling as many of us do the dreaded 2,3,4am slots.

The time seems to go very slowly when you cant sleep. Its supposed to be best not to watch tv or go on the computer but I find its the only way to relax at that time n not wake the house up.

    Take care, :)

    Oh Polly

the nights are always the worst if you are awake and in agony (or just awake for those with insomnia) because the rest of the world seems to be ok!!!

It can be so isolating can't it?

I will cross everything for you that tonight is much better.

    love

Do you take cocodamol, PplySid? I know others have mentioned nightmare problems with them. I don’t but I only take the mild ones.

If I can’t sleep I just make a brew and do something that doesn’t require much effort, not something that’s going to get my brain cell into gear.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I hate it too hun, nightmares every time I sleep, wake up panicked. I do take the max dose of co codamol, along with half a pharmacy, plus sleeping pills and still I loathe going to bed. I know it is the most comfortable place to be, on the memory foam. I can be nodding in my chair, but the physio said NO NO NO to that, so OH stops me from dozing off and heads me off to bed - bing, awake, then doze, nightmare, watch clock, doze, jumping about, sending things flying.
Then, come morning, I can barely wake up, takes me at least 2 hours to come round. It is wearing, as I am sure you well know. XX Sending hugs for a more restful night. Bubbles

Oh, me too. Currently day times are not that great either. You do get used to it, PollySid, honestly you do, but that does not mean that it becomes any less irksome. Some on here use Amytryptaline to help them, I cannot remember if you have tried that or not but could that be an answer? Take care. DD

    Hi Polly,

Flower you are not having a good time there.

I think going back to the gp is a good idea. tell them that your having the bad dreams and also pain all night cus I think its possibly tablets review time.

A lot of them have the bad dream as a side effect but what your on clearly isn't enough or working and there are many combinations out there so please go back to your gp.

I am with you re the not sleeping.... I am lucky to get 4 hours a night now a days and feel drained most the time but maybe we both should learn to rest up for an hour or so in the day?

For me the tabs that gave me both bad dreams and hallucination I stayed on and after time they stopped doing that to me..... They worked so well pain wise I would forgive them anything but flower yours are not working so its best to go back to the gp. Cris x

Oh Polly, I hate night time too! Weary beyond words but no sleep-see every hour as hubby snores on-good job I love him!!!!!!! Getting to the point where I dread bed time now. If I take cocos get nightmares-if I don't am in so much pain I can't get to sleep-some days I wish I lived in some one elses body!!!! What a blessing this forum is- a place to let off steam with other folks who understand.

Hope you get chance for a nap in the day.

Thank you for the kind replies, I had a better night last night. The Coco's and Gabapentin usually work quite well for getting me off to sleep, it's staying asleep for long enough that can be the problem.
Now I am not working at least I can have a rest in the daytime.
I have a Doctors apointment tomorrow so will probably mention it to him, if I remember with everything else that is going on.

    Hi PollySid,

I'm just wondering whether some well-placed cushioning might help with your pain. My knees are worst affected, so I sleep with a normal cushion under my knees (for when I'm on my back) and a knee pillow in between (for when I roll onto my side). And my memory foam mattress topper is great too.

You mention pins and needles in your hand; I had this once and it turned out to be carpal tunnel syndrome, so it may be worth mentioning to your GP (with everything else!).

    Best wishes,
    Phoebe
