    See the HMRC website
    Under VAT / Sectors/ consumers / disabled
    You have to sign a declaration (usually provided by the seller of the goods) and give details of your condition - you don't need anybody elses input
    Lots of detailed info on HMRC website - can't get link as typing on phone
    But if you can't find it message me and I'll send you the link directly

    Must admit i come under two sections with this... i know my work place has made some awful mistakes with me...they are more careful now but must admit having had cancer it does appear to give you a better edge which i feel is wrong. I not sure what makes anyone disabled.. and i would imagine it will be different for everyone. For me i am quite lucky but selfishly miss being able to run, jump around and a few other bits... but i am still able to do many things a lot of people cannot do... I personally feel if you are unable to do day to day normal tasks you should be considered disable but this should not distract from the fact you are a a human being... I know i cannot do all the things i could do 6 years ago... is it me ageing early???? who knows...

    When my GP first told me 2 years ago that he thought I had RA, I was in quite a bit of pain and dropping things at work. He suggested I take a week off. As I work part-time, my boss didn't have to pay me so I phoned the benefits office for advice. I was asked if I wanted to register as disabled then I would receive benefits (can't remember which one) as well as being paid for any work I did do. They said I could then work as and when I felt able to. (Not sure my boss would like that.) I told them I would think about it but didn't do it as I am able to work.

    If off work you should be paid sick pay..... i know hubby gets an army disability pension but the ...not sure what to call it.... the normal disability benefit was really hard to get or was 10 years ago. However i am not at the stage where i can claim any benefits ( unless anyone can tell me different) because i am able to work... hopefully for years to come... and maybe at a slower pace :):)

    Hi
    I consider I am disabled....having OA, kypho scoliosis, one less than brillant THR {as someone else put it} and epilepsy.
    BUT......I think of what I CAN do not what I CANT {as much as possible}
    I think we all get the moments when we think "I wish I could".....add whatever you like there.
    BUT I AM HILEENA WHO IS DISABLED.......NOT A DISABLED HILEENA!!!!
    {Not shouting :lol: } I refuse to let the fact that I have arthritis identify me.
    Does that make sense? Probably not. :lol::lol: Its early and I havent had my coffee yet and the world doesnt start until the second cup of coffee :lol::lol:
    Love

    I was able to claim Employment and Support Allowance for that week because my employer didn't have to pay me sick pay. I too work at a slower pace now. My employer is ok with this, just asks me to keep him up to date with it.
    That is the right attitude to have Hileena. You get much further and are able to do much more if you keep positive and cheerful. Hope you enjoyed your coffee.
