Hi all, hope it's been sunny everywhere today.

I wanted to ask a question about toenails, which I know isn't the nicest topic!

Over the last few weeks the nails on one foot have become opaque, white and very thick. I am also having pains in the toes on this foot. I don't think it's an infection as I have looked at photos on google (bleugh) and it's different. They have also become mishapen.

I'm as yet undiagnosed as to which type of arthritis I have, and was wondering if this happens with other types or just psoriatic arthritis? The other joints which give me the most pain are my back, hip and wrist.

Take care

Aly x

Hi aly, does sound like fungal nail infection though I'm not a doctor I have it on a few of my toes I also have PA, a trip to the docs where they taken a sample of nail cutting to confirm infection but it's difficult to shift (no sign of improvement after 8 months off applying lotion).
    Hope this gets sorted

Hi purple, sounds like a fungal infection, if the nail is thickened, but I am only an old nurse, so best ask a podiatrist or your GP. XX Bubbles

Hi and thanks for your replies.

No, I don't have psoriasis but I know it is possible to have psoriatic arthritis without it, or for it to just affect the nails. I have a GP appt tomorrow so will ask him then.

    Thanks again

    PU

it still could be fungal so worth getting a bit tested. My Step-daughter had one for years using silly lotions on it when a course of terbinafine fixed it in the time it took for them to grow out!

good luck tomorrow and mention your flare eh?

    Love
