Hi All Clare doing P.A duties here.

For those who would like to know Poppy has got back from her appointment. Am just giving a quick update as Poppy is too wiped out to post today and promised to update you all.

Not her usual reummy although very thorough and she has been listened to.

The scan shows large hot spots on 3ribs so has to have a further CT of ribs n lung, with a view to poss surgery, also the seratide inhailer to be continued indef.
MTX increased, Ami increased, and Embrel to remain at mo. To try Indometacin instead of Pred and read more about Golimumab and decide if she wants to try before her next appointment in April.

Poppy thanks everyone for there support and thinking of her, she is extremely grateful.
Thanks all.xx

I am pleased you got on well Poppy and wish you all the best.
((((xx))))

    Thankyou everyone :D
I'm very groggy thanks to amitrip increase from 50 to 80 and Im struggling with pain and stiffness too, after yesterday morning's hydrotherapy and being pulled about and examined by Rheumy. BUT It makes such a difference when you have a good appt, my usual Rheumy is wonderful and always listens, it's just that for the past 18 months ive been suffering constantly with painful ribs, but because X-ray showed nothing it was labelled as part of PA, take painkillers and get on with it.
The bone scan clearly shows hot spots exactly where I have been feeling the pain, so hopefully now a CT scan can clarify the next step for some relief. Honestly at its worst I've been tempted to grab my husband's pliers and take them out myself
I couldn't have coped without the love and support given to me by everyone here, you are all so wonderful.
And especially Huge thanks to you my lovely PA Clare, I can't thank you enough for being such a good friend. Love and hugs to you all.

At last some good news, my dear, groggy, friend. There are those who would not understand how the prospect of surgery can brighten our day  but, hey, whatever it takes.

I hope the new and increased meds work. I did indomethacin when I was nobbut a lass and it helped me for several years.

I can't believe you managed the hydro yesterday - well, I can, but I'm pretty damn sure no-one else would have tried it in your situation.

Take it easy today, PLEASE, and do not, under any circumstances, go near those pliers  .

    Hi all,
I'm still sore and the ribs have played merry hell with me this afternoon, so used a contraption consisting of 2 hot water bottles and a large belt to tie one in the front on the ribs and the other on my back ribs, I look ridiculous and the cat is giving me funny looks but I don't mind
The amitriptyline increase is knocking me for 6, 50 - 80 is a bit of a jump but hey I actually slept last night! so well in fact that this morning my hubby couldn't wake me up, it took 45 mins! by then he had to dash off and catch his train into London, leaving me to attempt dressing myself. I managed to pull on trusty leggings and t shirt combo (no zips or buttons :D ) while sitting on the end of the bed using my sock puller upper stick (no idea what it's really called but its wooden with a plastic hook at the end) feeling very pleased with myself I then stood up and promptly tripped over our tomcat Sparkle who was lying sprawled on the floor by my bed hurling me into the doorframe  i did pull my already aggravated ribs but thankfully the only other thing dented and bruised is my pride
I'll give the 80mg amitrip a couple more nights but if I'm still so woozy the next day I might have to reduce it back to 50.
Hoping :D everyone is having a better day than me! Hugs (())

Morning Poppyg1rl. How are you doing today? I hope the encounter with Sparkle didn't have any long lasting results.

About the Amytrip - 50 v 80 sounds a strange jump. If you're still feeling rough on the higher dose, could you aim for something in between?

    Hi Everyone,
Thankyou for your kindness and support, I got up this morning with a hangover...very strange as I don't drink anymore :? I thought the jump in the amitrip was a bit odd, my usual Rheumy has always told me to increase slowly before, for example I went up from 30 to 50 by a 5mg increase over the weeks till I got to 50, I think tonight I'll do 55 and increase till 80 slowly.
The thing is though...my ribs are unbelievably bad, you can see the swelling around the damaged ribs, I think that coupled with the bone scan results the Rheumy was just doing his best to help alleviate the pain.
Some good news  my CT scan has come through, its 3rd of April at 5pm, apparently they are going to inject a dye to get a clearer look at the ribs, I can't tell you how glad I am that FINALLY my ribs are being dealt with.
Thankyou my wonderful friends, I'm so grateful and humbled by all the love and support I've received. Big hugs to you all ((()))Xxx
