Acupuncture

I am having a course of acupuncture on my neck, from the physio dept. First session tomorrow, I am a little nervous and unsure. However, I have heard people have had excellent results, and I have nothing to lose.
They are using the acupuncture to try and stop the muscle spasms so they can properly assess what is going on with the neck and nerves etc.
I am hoping it works, as taking meds all the time, is a nuisance, and if I want to be alert, I have to not take them, which means being in a lot of pain.
Will be interesting!!! Anyone else tried it, any tips, experiences, good results or bad??

Hi Suzy
I will be interested to see what you think of it, I was offered it by the pain clinic for my back, but I declined, how mad was that not just giving it a go.
So good for you, there are quite a few on here that have had good results from it.
I really do wish you well with it, and please let us know how you get on.xLove

Many years ago, I had it twice. Privately so it was a bit hit and miss as to how good the practitioner was. The first one, a quite creepy little guy who operated out of a basement, did seem to help a bit but the results never lasted more than a few hours. The second one - more expensive, very swish, state-of-the-art clinic - was a total waste of time and money. Would I do it again? Yes, if it was someone the NHS recognised as quality. Hope it helps you, Suzygirl. You're overdue for a break. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thanks, I can't quite believ I am giving it a go, but, I am desperate for some relief and to be able to drive again. I cut down the painkillers and sneakily had a little drive, but even turning your body isn't enough to see over my shoulders. So have to wait a little longer. Will let you know how it goes.0

All the best for tomorrow, I have had acupuncture a number of times, it has not been long lasting by any means, but I love the feeling during and afterwards.

Hi Suzy,
Just wanted to say that I'm hoping the acupuncture is really successful for you, and that it helps stop the awful pain you've been in. Xxx'grá agus solas'

Thanks for the support and well wishes. I actually had some manipulation and traction on my neck today, before the acupuncture so it will work better. So am actually having it next week!!!!!
What he did has helped, I can turn my neck further, so hopefully, with the acupuncture, things will improve even further.0 -
Hey, that's a spot of good news, Suzygirl. Could you continue with it regardless of whether or not the acupuncture works or was it just a one-off?If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Suzy
Sorry I'm late catching up with posts....been away for a few days.
I had acupuncture in my back on the NHS.
I found it worked well for about 5 days out of the 7 {before I saw him again}then the pain started to come back, I had another session and it worked again etc.....I had 6 weeks .......once a week.
Then he left me for 3 months and offered me another session....same thing....6 weeks...worked for part of the week but pain coming back a few days before i was due to see him again. I would have been happy with that to be honest.....but at the end of the second lot he said that he couldnt justify doing more because it wasnt helping enough
It was expensive and he had to justify it to his bosses????
Oh well.....never mind Hope it works for you
Love
