How did you react when denied benefits?

I decided in that case I probably didn't need the tablets either :o so didn't take my morning dose. I then took the dogs down to the beach with my husband, (something I haven't done for months) practically crawling back.
Gave up later in the day and took tablets, but with missing a dose I was awake on and off all night.
All of this because our income is £200 a year too much to get council tax benefit and I had the letter from DWP saying that they were not awarding me any DLA.
They gave the reasons and I was ok with what they said, if the truth be known I didn't really expect to get it.
It just got me frustrated that I couldn't do my job, and was finished on medical grounds but no-one seems to care. I really don't know if it is worth filling in the ESA form with how it is worded as it doesn't seem to apply to people with OA in the spine.
I will fill it in honestly and as best I can, but don't hold a lot of hope out and expect to be put on Job Seekers list.
I have even started applying for jobs, knowing that if I got one I would struggle to keep it.
Has anyone on here who is over 60 managed to get a job? If you have at least it will give me some hope for the next year until I retire.

    Hi PollySid

I have OA in my lumber spine and im on ESA, it affects me being able to sit stand and walk for any length of time.

Good luck if you apply for ESA

    Hiya

I have oa in my spine (and other places too) and I am surprised you don't get any DLA. Have you appealed against the decision? Go on moneysavingexpert forum as they have lots of advice for helping people with the appeal process (I think it's the disability and dosh part you need). I used to get higher rate DLA then when I reapplied they didn't award me anything. At the time I was so upset I didn't think about appealing but since reading the forum I have reapplied again and this time I WILL fight and appeal if necessary.

Did you have a medical? You are entitled to get all the information held on your file so give DWP a call and ask for a copy of it.

See if you can get ESA. Again you can appeal if not immediately successful. Apparently about 75% of appeals win for the claimant.

    Good luck x
