Hi all,

I'm struggling just now but plodding on with life as good as I can.

I have probs with knees, neck and fingers but it's my wrists that are really bothering me. My right wrist in particular. I get a stabbing pain every time I try to move my hand back ( I know, don't do it then) but it's funny how much you take that movement for granted. I wince every time I put my hand up to open a door. Typing is painful. I'm right handed so the pain is there all the time, when brushing my hair, teeth-everything!

Any tips?

Hi Magenta, it might be worth getting your GP to referr you to an Occupational Therapist. They can help with maybe giving you splints for your wrist. I wear them at work or doing hoovering, anything heavy really and I've gotten used to them.
OT can also help with a home assessment to see if there's anything else you might need.
Other than that then as Val says, wheat packs or for some folk, ice packs can help. There's also some kind of hot oil/wax you can get. I remember Dorcas had it and it really helped.
Hope you get some relief soon.
    Rita.

I think Val and Rita has said it all Magenta so there's nothing much I can add.

I also think we take all movement for granted till it hurts - it's human nature

I just hope you get some relief soon.

Is there any possibility that it might be Carpal Tunnel Syndrome? I am sorry if I am assuming that you haven't already thought of this. Best wishes x

Agree with Rita. I've just had my right hand trussed up with one and it does help. Mind you I have discovered there are some things you can't do with the wrong hand or with the splint on (I will leave you to find that one out lol). I have to wear mine continuously for a month as the Doc 'thinks' I either have tendonitis or carpal tunnel and the degree of lessening in pain and swelling apparently is a good indicator to which it is. I thought an x ray or something would have been better but I don't like to argue with the professionals.

    Good luck.

    Hi.

Thanks for the replies. I don't think it's Carpel Tunnel.

I've got wrist splints but I can't wear them at work-not allowed to wear them in a clinical area. Guess what though? I've left them in work

My wrists have been sore, on and off, over the last few years but the pain has become worse lately, as well as the restriction of movement.

    Another thing to contend with.

    Thanks,
