It's hard to say. I've been very lucky with all mine - no complications and the pain and swelling always going down in what seemed like a reasonable time. There do seem to be people on here, though, whose pain and swelling continues for much longer and their surgeons seem OK with it. I don't know what's 'normal' or how wide the spectrum of 'normality' is. I hope the pain clinic will help.

    Hi May

Has the consultant seen your knee/leg when it is much more swollen than the other? Trouble is with these surgeons, if the xrays look fine, you can walk, have a quite good knee bend and are not in too much pain, (although you say you are though) in their books they have done a good job and pat themselves on the back.
I am so sorry that you have had all this grief with your knee replacement.
Hopefully the swelling will go down, as you say it is only 6 months since the last "pulling about" of your knee which has now had to go through two traumas unfortunately.

Let's hope that the pain clinic come up trumps and can help you.

    Chin up,

    Elna x

Hi Di and all thanks for your thoughts , although my TKR has not been the best decision for me i do still class my self as one of the unlucky ones , which is a minority there are so many more that have had a good result x
