There's a reason why people read the Sun and this is precisely it. The reporters cheerfully dredge the various gutters of life, with relish and zest, because they know it will sell their 'paper'. They give no thought to those they hurt along the way, let alone the morality of what they publish. I don't read it but as it has one of the more user-friendly reading ages, and so many adults in this country have weak literacy skills, it sells. DD

But the Sun is a product - and this product sells. I think one can understand the English better by reading this paper.

I do hope you're wrong, Tody. I think there are many ways of judging a nation and this would be but one, and not a particularly good one.

As for the first part of this statement - should market forces be the only criteria for judging a product's worth?

I'll say it again, it has a user-friendly reading age. And lots of pictures, some of them with more than just two pointy things plus vacuous comment. DD

There's nowt wrong with a couple of nice pointy things, but a newspaper this does not make.
Full of drivel, ideal for the average numpty reader who enjoys colouring in..
It is NOT anything near a representation of England..
