    Hi Kathe
sorry to hear of your upset.
mtx affects people in different ways. it can upset your stomach later on the same day or the next day but ive never had sickness with it. do you also take folic acid the day after.
    hopefully other users can advise.
it could well be something to do with the ulcer. what other meds are you on and do you take a stomach liner every morning like lansaprysol which is meant to protect the stomach lining from ulcers. only thing is if you already have one the damage has been done. im guessing the injections shouldnt be as bad as tablet form as its going straight into your system.

if i was you i would contact your rhumy nurse specialist on the helpline number your hospital should have to advise further.

Are you taking Folic Acid? My rheumatologist recently upped my dose from one 5mg tablet per week to three, I don't know why as I don't have the trouble you are but she must have had a reason. Now, possible help with side effects: for the nausea try drinking flat Coke, or sipping peppermint (or ginger) tea, I do my meth injection in the morning but would it be better for you to do yours in the evening, before bed, so that you are tucked up nice and snug and might be able to sleep through the dizziness etc? I wish you well. DD

PS Apologies Mr DJ, I've just seen your FA question!

An anti-emetic (anti-sickness) might help. I take one the day before I take my MTX, one when I inject it and one the day after. Like DD says, I also upped my folic acid to help with side-effects too. Ask your doctor or rheumatologist about either of these. Apart from that, ginger or peppermint can help.

You've got some good advice there, kathe. All I would add is to question whether or not you're taking anything for the anaemia. My GP put me on a course of iron tablets when my bloods were down. They, too, can make you feel sick.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Thank`s for all the ansers...I take Folic Acid every day exept the day I that methotrexate. Found others inn this forum how has the same problems, so looks like they are comen. I`ll also take anti-emetic (anti-sickness) tablets before I take the methotrexate. I`m going inn to the hospital for a scan of my stomach. I tried to take it before i go to bed...But not everytime I can do that. But it is better to take it before bed I dont get so sick then.
