Bug or meth?

I don’t know anyone that has a bug but yesterday morning I woke up with a stonking headache. Also feeling generally achey and indecisive. Ah, a post-meth day! Well, actually a post-post-meth day. Not had one for some time. But, despite doing very little other than cooking for my sister’s arrival, nothing got better and the head got worse. Paracetamol didn’t touch it.
The pre-requisite of my sister’s visits is at least two games of Scrabble in the evening. I managed the first. By now someone had stuck a ton weight on top of my head and was also squeezing the sides. She always wants me to add up the scores. “You’ve won.” “Just add them up and see.” I added them up. She’d won.
I knew if I could just get through this next game I could then pretend to watch TV while actually falling asleep. By now I was starting to feel sick with the effort. Somehow I got through the second game but, by then, I knew falling asleep in the chair was not an option. As casually as I could, I said “I think I might go to bed. I’m feeling a bit queasy.”
Two pairs of eyes turned and stared at me if I’d announced I’d two months to live. “Why?” “Dunno. Maybe it was the salmon.” (The only part of my meal in which the beefeaters hadn’t shared.) Mr SW gave me one of his now-what’s-really-going-on looks. My sister, ever the practical one said. “Take a bucket.” “I’ll be OK.” “Well, just take one in case.” “I’ll be OK.” “I always do if I feel sick.” “I’ll be OK.” (I’ll be OK if you just shut up and let me get my head down!) (I must add at this point that my sister is a very caring person and I, when ill, am a very crabby hermit crab.)
I managed to get my shoes off before falling into bed fully clothed. I woke up at 11.30pm. The sick feeling had gone. The head was slightly better. I managed to get undressed before falling asleep again.
This morning, after sleeping for 11 hours, I felt much better. Got up, washed, dressed and had a small bowl of cereal and a mug of water. Then felt knackered again but, this time, without the headache. It’s a beautiful sunny day and no way am I going back to bed. I shall lounge gracefully, or disgracefully in the conservatory. But I still wish I knew if it is/was a bug or an extravagant meth afterday. I think I’d prefer the former.

If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Oh dear Sticky, this does not sound good. I would suspect the bug as a culprit because you have been on meth for a good long while now and (as I understand matters) do not usually react like this. I now routinely take my temperature when I feel a little off-colour as I know the immuno-suppressants can 'hide' symptoms so you don't know you are poorly BUT bugs don't usually present with headaches (well, not in my experience). My advice? Rest, and I mean REST, sleep if you feel tired (sleep always helps me) and if things don't clear up then ring the person who doles out your meth. Please let us know how you get on, yes? I am concerned :? as this ain't like you. (()) DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Hi stickywicket...sorry you've had a bad time...i cant comment on the meths side..iv never had an umm sup. drug....b what you have just discribed is exactly what happens to me if i turn my head too much either on the day or day before....and this is cos i have arther in my kneck...if iv been talking to someone on my left and iv been turning my head or lookin down then up...perhaps from keyboard to screen...then a few hours later, possibly next day,it starts and goes through exactly the routine you just discibed....very horrid...just thought it could be another possibility....i dont know where you have arther?..
hope you feel well soon....JAJA0 -
Oh dear Sticky , sorry to read that you were not well yesterday.
Sometimes I also get that feeling on a morning when I have had a good few days enjoying myself and tripping out too many times on the scooter. It also depends on my position of sleeping in bed, this affects my neck which inturn gives me the bad head and sickly feeling.(this also makes me feel grumpy too so you are not alone)
I hope in your case it was just a 24 hr bug, I don't think it would be the meth as you have been on it a long time.
Good to read you are feeling a little better today and you do right just chillin. Take care
Love & (((((()))))))

Hi Sticky,
Wot a brave Britain you are playing Scrabble with a stonking headache  - I don't think I could!
Were you hot and cold with your other symptoms because that would've been a temperature and created your headache and would probably have been a bug?
On the other hand when I was on Mtx, occasionally a few days after my meds I would have a similar spell to you. Mr Legs had a theory that every so often my body rebelled against the meds and made it's point. Maybe that's what's happened to you??????????
You'll probably only know when you have your next Mtx dose.
Sorry can't be much help  but I'm glad you're picking up.
Luv,Love, Legs x

Thank you everyone. I’ve decided it is/was a bug. It doesn’t fit the M.O. for meth which has always been kind to me, a day of tiredness being the only occasional problem. I think I’ve had bugs that gave me the headache thing before – well, they say they attack you at your weakest point . I’m fine now, just wobbly and, no, the wine will not be entering the fridge tonight. Legs, thanks so much for reminding me I’ll only know for sure when I next take the meth. Now that’s something to look forward to on Thursday  .
Jaja, I used to wake with bad, migrainy-type headaches when I’d slept with my head at an awkward angle and I did throw up with these. A good, memory foam pillow cured that. I take it everywhere. I also do neck exercises every day although I read somewhere that people with RA shouldn't.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Sticky I can inform you it is/was a bug!! I had everything you listed on your post!! Bad headache (which made me feel really sick), could hardly keep my eyes open, kept dropping off mid way through a conversation with OH!! (and he can tell you how much it hurt his feelings! Still keeps reminding me today! Men are soooo mello-dramatic!), feeling that I just wanted my bed, head hitting pillow then sleeping straight through. Waking up next morning feeling alot better then a couple of hours later boom!! It started all over like ground hog day! I was like it for well over a week. Horrible, horrible bug. Don't ask me where I got it from can only think it was going out for b'day meal.
Hope you feel better soon Sticky, my advice stay in bed and rest, eat when you feel hungry but don't eat more than you can manage.0
