Hi
i'm new to the forum. I was diagnosed with Lupus 5 years ago and have recently found out I've also got sero negative RA. I started taking Pregablin 5 weeks ago along with hydroxychloroquine(I have had this before) and have developed a slight stammer but now also have tingling in my arms and hands. Should I be worried..my GP didn't seem too concerned when I saw her yesterday. Sorry but i also have another query!! I was referred for a blood test and the clinical details quoted on the referral slip show "Active DA". I can't find any reference to this anywhere. Can anyone tell me what it means?
Thanks

Oh dear, poor you, that doesn't sound good at all. I am not a doctor but the tingling could be a result of number of things: I too have tingling at the moment but as I have neck trouble I am putting it down to that. As to the other query I don't know what Active DA means but I guess the 'A' bit could refer to arthritis: arthritis which is not being sufficiently controlled by the meds is termed 'active'. I apologise, I haven't been much help and I hope someone else turns up who knows more than me! I wish you well. DD

    Hi and welcome,
I would try to speak to your rheumy nurse about side effects. I'm not sure but DA could be disease activity. Maybe someone will be along soon who knows. Wishing you well. All the best.

    Hi Andreask
I am on the older relative or pegabalin ..gabapentin..cant say I have had any tingling...I would certainly have another word with your GP, must say sometimes they dont always hear everything we have to say.
Sorry Im not being much help, but I do wish you well with everything.

Ive taken Pregalin for the past year (300mg twice a day) & Ive never had any side effects. I was previously on Gabapentin ..now that really was horrible for me :( Didnt stay on that very long.
I would go back & see a different Doctor .... hope this helps.

    thanks everyone
It's nice to know I'm not alone. Feel like I'm boring my family and friends so I don't talk to them very often about how I'm feeling. I'll bore all of you instead! :o
    thanks again xxx

    Hi Andreask,

Welcome to the forums. Glad you found it.

Pregabs can mess with you there is no doubt of that. Mine did for the first year i think but been on the 300 2x for a good 2.5 3 years now and they only mess with me when used with other drugs they don't get on with.

They never caused tingling and i have had an on off stammer for years follow-on a head injury so don't know if its the pregabs or that now.

I would run it past your gp as you might need to go up slower but they are a good drug and worth trying to take. Nice to meet you. Cris x
