Oh dear me, Joan, you really didn’t need this, did you? I wouldn’t be at all surprised if it’s the extra stress of Sue’s shingles that’s caused it.

I’m afraid I tend to do my own diagnoses too and, in your situation, I’d probably have thought I had a cold and not mentioned it to the doctor.

If it’s a flare, I don’t know what you can do apart from resting as much as possible. Is there a chance you might have shingles too? I don’t know how infectious it is.

Please take care, Joan, and, if in doubt, see the doc again.

    Hello Joan
Like SW says it could be the stress of Sue being ill, but I do remember a few weeks ago you said you had a lot of pain, its awful when you cant get some relief from your meds, I do think you can get flare with OA because I get times like this, I feel like I am coming down with flu like symptoms, and my joints become extra painful, but again like SW says shingles cam be infectious if you havent had chicken pox...you could get chicken pox from Sue.
Sorry Im going on, but I am trying to cover every possible situation for you, but please see your GP, you certainly shouldnt be in pain all the time, maybe your meds want changing..
You take care and please let us know how you are.xxxx
    Love
    Barbara

Oh no! I am so sorry to read this Joan, what a bother and a nuisance. I too tend to think it is a flare as it has been going on for more than a week but I agree, it is sometimes so hard to tell the difference between a flare and a bug. I also suspect the stress of Sue's shingles may be a factor in this, an iminent bug plus that is not a happy combination. So, keep warm, keep up with your pain relief, keep up the fluid intake too (water, tea, juice etc) and I hope you both feel better soon. Hi Joan,
I do hope the patches work for you very soon. Good news that Sue is starting to show signs of improvement. I had shingles last September so I know she has been suffering. Fingers crossed that the Weekend is so much better for you both.

Happy Easter to you both from me, too, Joan. I hope neither the shingles, the arthritis or the osteoporosis manage to cast a cloud on it.
