Is the recent move by the government to monitor texts and emails in the UK

just a way to get us to return to snail mail? Thus we buy more stamps! :?:

As none of my texts and emails are that thrilling ( I don't have a secret life and I am not a terrorist, and if I was I wouldn 't be using that kinda media anyway) I don't care who reads 'em. As for letters, well, if the PO puts in a large order for kettles . . . . . :) DD

    Neither are mine DD :)
I could see a lot of misuse if they do invest in kettles :D

I'm sure they are thinking of our safety in the long run, I bet its a very interesting job.

Barbara BB indeed...When I first read 1984 I thought those things would never be possible, but I think science and technology have well and truly surpassed those ideas.

I know they already have key words they look out for in texts and calls. Don't know how they find the time?

    Hi Ruby,

Oh flower they are welcome to try and read mine

Tis a bit BB though but... they will not have time to do all so are likely to shove them through some kind of filters to pick up certain words I guess.....

Judging by the amount of government laptops. memory sticks and important papers that have been left lying around and stolen, i say god help us when then have all this info too. there has been some major leaks over the past few years, hardly fills you with confidence does it.

well if they read my text messages the past few weeks they would have a best selling book :lol:

they have been able to monitor text messaging etc for years, they regularly do it with suspects of terror and crime

they are welcome to waste a few hours a day reading mine, the next thing will be making it law to make us give them our DNA. now that is a worry, they might discover im an alien
