As you know me and Nap did not get on but given the trouble it seems to cause you I think another choice of anti-inflammatory could be on the cards. I am not sure why your side-effects have not settled as yet - and that concerns me - so I think a trip to the GPs could be on the cards.

Now, the skin. That sounds very much like the kind of P I have: the inside of my left ankle is red and itchy, and covered with dry white flakes of dead skin, the outside has a new patch on the ankle bone and I have some on the inside of my right foot. After that ghastly tummy bug I have been cautious with the sulph, gradually building the dose like I did when I began and I am only a three per day. I shall increase that come Sunday and I hope that helps - it is the sulph that has kept my P mostly at bay for the last ten years. ((())) DD

I can’t help with the skin problems, val, and I’ve long forgotten what normal feet look and feel like. Stomachs though – I can do stomachs.

I presume you’re on a protector (Sorry, can’t remember). You may, depending on other meds, be able to try a different NSAID. In the years before DMARDS and protectors, I lurched from one to another as they each, gradually, messed up my stomach. There’s also Gaviscon Advance which will protect against reflux, whether obvious or, as in my case, ‘silent’ ie you don’t know you have it, you just feel the effect. You can buy this over the counter but you’re well-versed enough in all things arthritic to know you should check with your doc, or at least pharmacist, first to ensure it doesn’t clash with any other meds.

The one thing I would definitely say you shouldn’t do is ‘just put up with the stomach problems’ as that will only cause more grief later. There are several options but best to let your GP decide which is best for you.

Sticky is right, don't put up with stomach pain. Get it looked into as I am sure you can get something that will help. I get acid reflux and take gaviscon advance, which you can get prescribed if it's cheaper for you.

All the meds we take are awful on our poor tummies and anything to help is a must.

Think of the stomach protectors as your friends, val. Whatever else you forget to take, remember them because they save you from a lot of hassle. I keep mine at the side of the bed with a glass of water and take it as soon as I get up. That way, it’s working by the time I take the others with breakfast.

Ah yes, Jaja, but you do need a good pair of hands. i recall long periods in the bathroom, much swearing and a great deal of scrabbling round the floor to retrieve the dropped ones.

I actually did enlist the help of Mr SW  , but it put rather a strain on our marriage and tripled the swear ratio.

Oh dear, Marrianne, lack of dullers (I think that's what they are) is not to be recommended. Can you buy them over-the-counter to tide you over? I hope so: I know I can for my co-cos and I hope can find something to help. DD

Ask the pharmacist for advice. If it's not your regular one, take a list of the meds you are on. I'm fairly sure he'll be able to give you something to tide you over.
