That, my lovely, is a very good thing. I am fortunate in that so far the PsA has not really affected my nails viz ridges and pitting etc, and I do my best to keep them looking nice as it is a boost to morale! Get thee to a manicurist when you can - I have mine done every three weeks and I am sure that that care (as well as the maintenance I do) helps them to stay relatively strong. That's really good Val. Go and get them all done now as a well deserving treat.

Hi Marianne, I am sorry to read of your troubles with the meds - one of the most frustrating things is that we all react so differently to the same stuff. I've been on sulph for a good long time and the only major trouble I have had with it is the development of tinnitus but it has not, as yet, affected my eyes. I do injected meth and yes, hair falls out but whether that is the drug, ageing or a combination of both I don't know. I block the bath plug hole with a sink strainer to catch all the loose hairs and on some days it gets very full indeed. (Our shower is an over-bath one and I can't be bothered with trying to unblock plug holes any more.)
I too use Nail Envy and also the Avoplex oil (twice daily). Carol (who does my nails for me) says that it is a feed for the nails (though why dead stuff needs feeding is beyond me!) It does make a difference though: I became very sloppy with the nail care over Christmas with the nett result that they were breaking at the drop of a hat: now I'm back into the routine they are growing nice and strong again. I always wear gloves in the winter and rubber gloves for all household chores. I'm never far from a tub of handcream and I also regularly rub some nice thick cuticle cream in, stuff I bought from Avon. I don't take supplements apart from a calcium with added Vit D (when I remember  ) DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
My nails have always had ridges on even when a child and they're quite weak and bendy. No medication has ever altered that. I like to keep them very short as I don't like it when they catch on things.
Good news about your nails Val, you should treat yourself to some lovely coloured varnish or a manicure.

My nails aren't too bad having been nourished and looked after for most of my life ; my problem is that having depuytrens and therefore mishapen claws instead of hands ; I can no longer apply nail varnish . I now cheat by wearing falsies instead ( nails that is ) , they are surprisingly natural looking . Jillyb0
