i have just had this in my message box. how are spammers getting in there and how do i stop it.

In theory, anyone who is a member can PM anyone else. In practice, you can refuse PMs from particular people by going to 'User Control Panel' though I confess I don't know how as I've never attempted it.

My guess is this is just an ordinary spammer (not particularly 'blessed in the Lord' :roll:) who's clicked on your name instead of posting in the usual way. I don't think you've been specifically targeted. You were just 'there' at the wrong time. Hopefully the Mods will deal with that person asap.

Thank you stickywicket. id heard of spammers getting on the main boards but didnt realise they did this too. i bet they are so annoying to deal with and keep the mods busy. like you say the spammer is not perticuly blessed with the lord. :roll:

I've never had a spammer PM and I can understand your bemusement. I agree with Sticky and I hope you have reported it, that way the mods can deal with this 'not-that-blessed' lady. DD

If they log on as a poster I suppose they are able to PM other posters. Must be a new tactic.

I will look further at my end for any clues then, I hope this isn't the start of a new spam method of annoying us, if so please do send the pm asap so we can keep on top of it pending the clever website people working out how to stop it!

I wouldn't advise anyone to click on any link in this kind of message, that could be a route to all sorts of bad things happening to your computers, just like you don't click on spam links in any emails spam you get.
