Very fed up

Last Wednesday afternoon I had a t.i.a, (mini stroke). I feel ok now but, cutting a long story short, I've been put on a statin and a drug called Clopidogrel. My surgery on my left foot was due next Tuesday and I've had to cancel it as they won't operate while I'm on Clopidogrel. My surgeon is being marvellous and has promised to get me in as soon as they let me have a break from it but, frankly, I'm devastated. I've been waiting for this for such a long time! Why me eh? :x

Yes, that will be very disappointing, Sue, but I imagine the last thing you'd want is for the surgeon to plough on regardless of consequences. Have you been given any indication of how long you will be on this drug and if there is anything you can do to lessen the likelihood of another T.I.A.? It's good that the surgeon is ready to do your foot asap once you are considered stabilised enough to leave off the drug. Just give yourself time. The whole thing must have come as a shock. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Hi Sue
Gosh, what a horrible shock to have had that. I know its terribly disappointing but as Stickywicket says at least the surgeon is being careful and I am sure he will get your foot seen to as soon as he feels it's ok to go ahead.
In the meantime, concentrate on getting yourself better so that when you get your new op date you will be fit and ready and recover quicker.

Dear Sue,
I can understand how fed up you must be but, like the others, I am glad your surgeon is being sensible and waiting for you to fully recover. Clopidogrel is an anti-platelet drug so works on your blood to stop it clotting as readily - because of this there will be an increased risk of bleeds following surgery. I'm sure your GP will want you to take it for a short while then allow you to stop to have the operation, they may put you back on it, or something else afterwards.
Get some rest now and recover from that TIA. Take care xxxxx0 -
Awww Sue
That must have been such a shock.....having a TIA!
Any indication how long you'll be on these tablets?
It is good like the others said that your surgeon wont go ahead and do the op while you are on them. I can imagine how disappointing it must be for you
Love

It's no wonder you're fed up, Cloud9, what an unkind thing for life to throw at you on top of everything else. I don't know much about TIAs but I hope that things are soon 'stabilised' enough for you to have your surgery done, without further risk to you - that is the most important thing. I wish you well. Thanks all. You're all so sweet xxSue (Cloud9)0

How are things today, Sue? Have things settled since the TIA? I'm sure you must still feel upset about the op decision but it will happen, given time.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I feel 100% fine sticky and I haven't heard a word from the stroke clinic. I'm a little annoyed by this because the last thing I heard from the doctor when I was in resus was, "It's very urgent that we get you in next Tues/Wed to carry on with some tests!" He said I would hear from him. Thank you all for your concern and I apologise for being Mrs. Moody, but, I really am scared and feel like I've just been left to get on with it.Sue (Cloud9)0

Hi Sue, I'm so sorry you've had a mini Stroke, that's not very nice. I hope you get better soon. Big ((HUGS))0

Hi Sue,
Sorry to hear things are tough- hope that you're having an okay kind of day. Is there anyone who coiuld ring the stroke unit and chase up the tests for you? Or maybe your gp could do it if you rang them and enquired? It's hard isn't it when you set your hopes on making steps forward then the plans all get changed suddenly. Hang in there- take care of yourself.

Thanks all. I got mail today to say all my benefits from ESA are to be stopped on 30th April and I am not entitled to any money. So......I don't care anymore. Sorry but I have come to the end of my road and can't fight anymore.Sue (Cloud9)0

Oh ye gods, Sue, that's absolutely lousy. I don't know what to say apart from could the CAb advise you as to where to turn now? I am so sorry. (()) DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

Aw Sue. I'm so sorry about that but please don't give up. Can you not appeal against it? I know you probably don't feel up to it but please try. (((hugs)))Christine0
