Hi, I've got osteoarthritis in multipule joints and it seems to be going through an active phase my knukles are swollen and very hot and red at times I feel ill and flu like. Over the past year or so I've had a sort what I can only say is like a ring(!) under my elbow joint a few small nodules are growing, I've only just noticed how much they have grown and they are like hard bits of bone. Also growing up around my elbow and for years I've had a small bump at side of my elbow, which effects the nerve.
My neck is painful too, and sometimes gets really itchy. For the past few months I've woken up in the morning early, with my painful arm around my head and its numb all down the outside of my arm from my neck to fingers. Also, I get a lot of itching on my chest and arm, which seems to come from a joint which is very painful to touch.
Its weird and worrying, but I've had a bit of stress since christmas and that seems to effect everything!!
Seronegative RA has been mentioned but I wonder if its become really inflamatory and is RA or something. The nearest appointment I can get with my doc is 2nd May and I don't want to see another one as mine is very understanding and helpful.
Sorry, I'm moaning on again! Does anyone else find itching and nerve pain sometimes go together? Love Suexxx

    Hi Sue

Sounds like you are going through it just now.

I have nerve damage in my back which causes pins and needles in my right foot, whole left leg and right arm. Yes, it is sort of weirdly itchy as well. The right foot sometimes feels like something is running over it. Urgh! It's horrible.

Nerves can do all sorts of things weird so try not to panic but definately get to see your doc.

I'm sorry, Sue, I really can't be much help here. Mine's RA and I've done various nodules over the years. I just ignore them and sometimes they do go away.

I've never had the itching. I'm not quite sure how your arm is when you wake up. I could understand it feeling numb for a while if you've had it in an awkward position.

Stress, as you say, does affect everything. If you're happy with the doc you'll be seeing and nothing gets any worse, maybe just hang on in there. If stuff gets worse and/or you become more anxious about it, just see whoever you can. Take care.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi Sue,

Yes the itching and nerve pain really go together, drives me nuts at times, I try cold compresses and gentle massage to the area, I have carpal tunnel syndrome in one of my hands, and it has caused more then likely permenant damage in the nerve,

And as you probably know already painkillers dont touch the nerve pain, but getting the itchy area as cold as you can bear it could help.

if its not one thing its another.

    hope it eases up soon.

Hi Thanks for the replies nerve pain is a funny thing - or not so funny when its driving you mad! Still, at least it doesn't give you a rash - although when it started I spent ages looking for spots or something!

    Hi Sue,

I am sorry your going through it and certainly the ra thing or inflammatory ones need checking out. Shame you can;t see the gp sooner but take pics now while its all acting up as it might have calmed down by then. Also keep a diary flower.

I have alot of nerve pain and, for me, the pregabalin does a really good job. It might be worth mentioning them to your gp? If you can take them that is as thy can mess you about a bit though they have always been fairly kind to me in the messing with the head dept.

Hang in there flower and i hope it will soon settled down. Luv and a (((( )))) Cris xx

Oh poor you, I am sorry. It's astonishing how our bodies keep finding new ways to torment us, isn't it? I have some nerve tingling etc in my hands thanks to a very tense neck, and I do wake up every now and again with a 'dead' arm - that's horrid. I don't move much in my sleep and I guess I somehow trap summat and then it protests. Hang on for the doc's appointment, it's not too far away and every day it will get a little closer, but if things do become untenable then see if you could get in a little earlier maybe. I wish you well. DD

    Hi Sue
I am so sorry you are struggling like this, just a point..but shingles is going about and I do think sometime we and our GPs can put everything down to Arthur...shingles is very itchy and extremely painful.
So you mention it to your gp
I do hope you get some relief very soon xx
    Love
