This is a tricky area. On the face of it your boss would appear to be a bit of a berk - BBs are not given out to those who are NOT disabled (well at least they shouldn't be) so he is under some mis-apprehension there. None of us with arthritis can predict the future, just the same as someone without. I hope you won't sign the inaccurate statement - draw up your version of events and send that back to him, with his torn in half. (Keep a copy of it before tearing though! You may need it as evidence if this goes the wrong way - I hope that doesn't happen but . . . . . )
Work is a difficult area for so many on here. We're damned if we do work (with pain etc) and damned if we don't (having to jump the high-hurdles of ATOS etc). It may be worth your reading through the Working Matters forum on this site, Yaris, there may well be a similar tale to yours on there. I wish you well. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Hi Yaris
DD and Del are right...............dont sign what is inaccurate and you dont agree with.
Have somebody else with you if he visits again.
I can see where they are coming from though in asking when you will be back........they need to plan for your absence and organise the cover for your work.........easier if they have some sort of timescale, and maybe he just didnt explain that to you and wasnt pressuring you?
Its hard though to focus on what work needs when you are in pain and you dont need the stress. I hope you sort it out with them.
Im in a similar situation and am assuming i wont be entitled to any help when pay is reduced as OH is working full time.

Hi
Sorry to hear you are having a bad time with both osteo and work, too be honest its difficult to deal with both.
I would strongly advise not to sign any statement written from your line manager/boss until you have either read it and are totally happy with the contents, or contact your union/CAB or any other independant organisation to "check out" the content of the statement.
Re: appointment next week - if you do not sign the statement and inform work (either your line manager or HR) you are seeking advice, the meeting can be re-scheduled.
Take care, sit tight and don't worry too much.0
