Stem cells & osteoarthritis

I have just read (a bit behind the time) about arthritis research funding stem cell trials for repairing bone/cartlidge. It would be stem cell from your own
Body and will prevent the need for a hip or knee replacement for example.
What are your views in this?

For me personally I would volunteer to be a dummy for it as I am only 24 and it will mean less surgery for me and hopefully less pain and less drugs!

    Hiya,

I would welcome this too. My jaw is severly damaged by OA but my surgeon won't do a jaw replacement as it's too risky, so this would be great for me. I'll need to have a look at the info.

Hi as a fellow OA bod I too have looked at this, I emailed the hospital that were doing the trials and tis was passed to the lead consultant doing this but i heard nothing.

I so hope this works and they publish something more about this soon.

    Take care.xx

Hi Mel. Sturge went to the USA for this treatment. (See his thread 'Using your own stem cells to heal your body') Last I remember, it hadn't helped.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi Mel,

I too would go for it were it ever offered and I think the leaps forward they are making can only be for the good.

Like Sticky I also read Sturges posts with interest and they did seem to help. Cris x
