Ooh, there you all are!
Glad you are feeling better than you were DD.
Thinking of you.
Love Tillyxxx0 -
Mig, the den involves opium. Are you sure you're ready for that?
Right, Ma has just rung chock-full of excitement over the fact that my cousin's 19" TV with built-in Freeview worked in her kitchen and he is going to get one for her. I thought about raining on her parade, but didn't, I said that I was very pleased and hoped she would get one soon. I'll rain later when she can't work the remote - she still hasn't fathomed the remote on the telly we gave her for Christmas, despite numerous lessons. Cripes. She had the full digital switch-over when I was there and refused to let me re-tune her telly until she discovered she only had BBC1 and 2. She then grudgingly changed her tune and sat in her arm chair like some tragedy queen from a Shakespeare play, hand over her eyes. She said thank you about five hours later. Why do I take so much notice of her antics? ODS I guess, Only Daughter Syndrome. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Think i might pass this time .Mig0

Wow! DD hey Mom's and new age telly's! Your lucky, my mom thinks the best way of staying in touch with her kids is either text or email! She never bothers calling us to see how we are! No it's texting. She even knows text speak! LOL!, ROFL & gr8. It just so weird!
Your mum will get the hang of using the telly and it's such fun along the way, just think you will get some funny stories to tell family! So glad to have you back feeling a little better!0 -
I think you are fantastic DD .A chip of the old block as they say ok she makes you cross an understatement especially when you are feeling as poorly as you are ....................You give because you want to not because you have to ,I think despite all the trying the patience of a saint you will always put those batteries in for mum and try to talk her through the things ..............grrr I dont understand..... my 50 th decade... because you are your Mothers daughter.Good luck and love and I hope Mum is getting better from the fall and you can escape back to Mr DD and I think your Mum is fantastic to Marrianne0

I've escaped Marianne, I returned home last Saturday week as I had to do my humira on Sunday and then the meth on the following Wednesday. Ma is doing fine, her voice is good and strong, the bruises are fading and the glue is coming off her cuts. She managed to have a shower yesterday (it's an old over-the-bath effort) and she has to kneel as the shower head is not very high up the wall) but she did it. She is a doughty old girl, which sometimes serves her well.
My cousin has also lent her a three-wheeld walker to try using around the house but as there is not a clear path anywhere (due to rugs and too much furniture) I'm not sure how helpful it will be for her. I tried to move some chairs etc out of the room where she spends most time (less to hit when she topples was my reasoning) but she was adamant she wanted things left as they are. She uses them for support. She is very good at telling me what I should be doing to help myself (and bossing others around too!) but if one tries to do the same in return . . . . . pointless exercise. She does not listen. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Oh DD Freedom at last Mum is kneeling on knees thanks to you ,Now sort you out I suspect your knees have not been knelt on in ages, but though she never praises you nags you tries to impose her will in the end you are still her girl and when you are not around well your ears will be burning and your cheeks so red as mum tells everyone what a good girl you are ..she is so proud of you yes she is unkind ungreatful its hard to let go in the pecking order I hope I am like your mum one day and thankyou for shareing to DD Marrianne0

You are very sweet Marianne, and thank you for your kind words. Being praised to others is all well and good but occasionally it's nice to hear it for oneself. Never mind, she won't change now, she is as she is and I am as I am. 'Nuff said. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

I missed you too Joan, how is Sue getting on now? The travelling has caused some upset, Mr DD had to come and fetch me as there was no way I could drive home, and last week was a write-off, I was soooooo tired. I am, hoever, feeling much brighter today so I hope I am on an upward trajectory.
Bubbadog, I am so sorry, I completely forgot to answer you! I guess your Ma may be a little younger than mine? Or at least not afraid of technology! Mine has always relied on others to sort her out with technical matters, whereas I have always relied on me. Even though she cheerfully admits she doesn't understand mobiles, computers or digital radio and telly that doesn't stop her listening to reason about how to change the channels etc. She has a spare dining chair tucked under the dining room table which is directly in her line of telly remote 'fire' from her armchair to the telly: nett result the telly won't always go to the channel she wants. Her solution is to stand up, turn it off, unplug it and the aerial, then replug everything, turn it on again, set the station then sit down. I told her to either move the chair (I offered to do so) or stand up when she wants to change channel but no, it's a problem with the telly. Yikes. DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0 -
Your mum sounds like my dad. He somehow manages to change the tv from Sky to tv. He then tries to change the Sky channel. It won't change so he phones the Sky engineer to come out and fix it. Won't let us do it for him because the Sky box is 'broken'.Christine0
