Sulphasalazine and side affects

I'm on my second week of Sulpha (I'm increasing weekly, so I started two a day last Friday). I hardly slept last night as I felt my heart is beating fast, and I feel the same today. Has anyone else experienced this? Will it settle down when my body gets used to the Sulpa or do I need to see my Doctor or Rheumy Nurse?

I've not done sulf but I'm sure I remember someone else having this problem with it. I hope they'll be around soon.

    Hello Judy :D

I was on Sulphasalazine a number of years ago but didn't experience the side effects you've mentioned..

Best to phone your doc first thing? and get his/ her advice on whether these symptoms are related to the sulpha or not.

Good luck and let us know how you get on?

    Hi,

I'm on 4 a day and did have palpitations when I first started them which soon settled. Its worth giving your rheumy nurse of GP a call just to get checked out.

as you can see by above posts no 2 patients are the same so as mentioned its best to speak preferably to a rhumy nurse just for piece of mind.
