Are there any groups in the North East

Just wondered if there where any support groups. I live in Whitley Bay and just thought there may be a support group locally.

I sometimes think it would be good to be able to chat to someone who understands. Family want to help and there isn't really much they can do, then I feel awful because they feel helpless.

My husband now wants us to move to a bungalow and I would rather not move. Then dealing with the pain and fatigue and tablets it just gets you down sometimes.

I didn't mean this to turn into a whine

    Hi
I'm in the North East but way too south for you. Hileena is the person who will be able to help as she is about the same area as you I think......at least she is closer than me.
I'll mention your post to her if she doesn't come on the forum today.
    Good luck May

If you click on the 'In your area' tab at the top of forum pages and then select the area you live in, there is a range of information for that area - just select what you're interested in from the menu on the left hand side.

For the North East You could try looking here ........

    hope that helps

    Hi desjumeaux

I do hope you can find somewhere local. I have found my own local meetings to be so helpful and a good source of support and like minded company, it is a pity they are only monthly.

If you don't find anything on the link that has been posted, you might be best to ask locally at your GP, public library or hospitals for updated information. I found details for mine purely by chance when at the Hydro pool at the hospital. My own particular group does at the moment help with travel costs for those who have to travel some distance to get to ours.

Although I am not in your area as such I do come under the North East umbrella as it were and I believe that the North East office has become a victim of the recent cuts affecting most charities and if not already, it will soon be closed down which is a sad loss to our own particular group. I think I have that right but perhaps the Mods or others can advise if they know more detail on that? I didn't want you to try a phone number which may no longer exist which is why I felt I should mention it here.

I hope you do find somewhere. It is a great comfort to me to be in a room of people who all shuffle in their chairs to try and keep comfortable or pain at bay, have trouble holding their teacups or limp in and out and no one bats an eyelid. Good luck and take care.

    Hi Aichia
You are right about us becoming a victim of the cuts....Wakefield.... if its not closed yet is closing in a week or so. I never know who to send my expenses forms etc to each month  It keeps changing
    Where abouts are you?
Is your group doing anything for AC week in May? I know we have an information stall in Newcastle for 2 days.
I did tell her wehere her nearest ones were but havent heard anything yet so possibly she has changed her mind.

thank you for all the help, they are mostly too far away. I find it difficult to drive too far just now.

I will try my local library etc as suggested.

    Hi
Its a pity it was South and not North Shields....that might have been easier. You never know the library might come up with some sort of support group......anything is worth a try
    Good luck

    Hi Lannie

Sorry I haven't been back to you sooner. I would love to become involved but at the moment I have so much pain I am not sleeping and just exhausted thro the day. When I do have time I need to help my mother out she has dementia.

If I can do anything from home, I would be delighted, but at the moment I just cant think straight with all the tablets etc.
