Flare up...

Hi all, been a bit quiet of late due to feeling OK (i have been a watcher though) but it seems there is another flare on the way. I have all the achy, ulcer, fluey and knackered all the time symptoms and I think I may know the cause - good old stress from teenage sons. But I was wondering how long between the stressful period and the flare?
I had some real issues with my eldest over the Easter weekend and have not been right since but now it's really kicking in.
Thanks,
Mark.

Hi Mark,
Sorry you didn't have the happiest Easter. Val's right: it is difficult to predict when a flare might happen, but when I feel one coming I try to get a bit more rest as sometimes a bit of TLC can stop it in its tracks.
Hope you feel better soon,

Hi Mark, stress always brings on a flare for me, usually pretty quickly, but it varies. Hope yours doesn't last too long.
I wish you well,

I agree with everyone else, stress does bring a flare up on quicker! I know from my last one which was around the time we where having big problems with the then 'purchasers' of our late dad's house, they really messed everyone around and then the sale fell through. Now thinks are good and we have another buyer for dad's house. Hopefully Mark things will blow over and your flare up will fizzle out quickly. Fingers crossed it does for you.0

Yep it has turned into quite a flair this time, could hardly walk most of the weekend. Been to the GP today and have some Prednesalone, on advice from the Rhumey, to try and get through it. That's 2 flairs this year, looks like Methotrexate is heading my way.
This time has been the worst by far as I've been hardly able to walk and it seems to me spreading to my wrists, knees, hips and jaw. Can't believe how fast it can progress.
Moan over, thanks for listening,

Oh Mark
Poor you
I am sorry that the flare is such a rapid one.
Now l cross fingers for you that the prednisilone will be JUST as fast at knocking it back for you.
Do keep in touch :?
Love

I'm sorry about the flare, Mark, and I hope the pred works its magic and quickly. It always works like a dream for me so I hope you're as lucky. If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

I understand just how you are feeling Mark.
I decided to reduce my azathioprine and got down to 9mg prednisolone (which is a low dose for my lungs) but unfortunately my joints have flared up especially in my feetl.
I am due to have both my feet operated on in May and so my doctor has told me to increase my prednisolone again to 15mg for two weeks - reluctantly I have. I just so wish I could get off the medication altogether but this will never happen.
Hope you do feel better soon.0 -
Hi again Mark,
So sorry you're having a rough time; here's hoping the prednisolone helps out asap.
Best wishes,

Ey up Mark, stress is a real bugger for causing flares for me too..
Mine have been constantly on and off now for almost two n a half years.. They really get ya down eh?
Think on average mine are usually around a week or so.. With not much break between
Best of luck though, hope they can sort things out for ya.. Think I'll be heading down the Meth route soon too. On Sulfasalazine at the minute but I've lost two and a half stone through lack of appetite with it..

Oh well, Been on the prednasolone for 2 weeks now and every time I try to come off the pain comes back in my ankles with vengeance.
I am worried about continuing with steroids "uncontrolled" as my GP told me to start with 20mg and then up or down the dose to how i am responding, so I have come off them and gone back onto Naproxin to see if I can cope with just them.
Dosn't look good though as the pain is starting to worsen and spread again. My GP has written to my Rhumey so hopefully I can get to see him soon. He said last time that methotrexate is the likely drug which also has me worried as the side effects can be quite bad.
Bit fed up, so thanks for listening again.
