Soooo confused!!!

Hi all.

I was diagnosed with PsA in April 2011. I opted to try a drug trial which went quite well and I was relatively pain free until Nov 2011. Then I had a flare and was signed off work and have not been back since. I am still in a lot of pain and many of my joints are tender and swollen.

I had an ultra sound scan yesterday to see how the disease was advancing, and the sonographer said she thought that "everything was quiet at the moment."

What I'm confused about, is why is it that if everything is quiet, why am I still in pain, joints are tender and swollen and am so very tired. I'm dragging myself around attempting to get things done and struggling to get anything done. My mood is getting lower and I'm quite fed up with everything at the moment.

I'm sorry this has turned into a moan, but i'm really confused. :? If anyone can shed any light on any of this, I would be really grateful.

Hoping that you are all keeping as well as can be expected!!

Gentle hugs

Jayney xx

Its so frustrating isn't it? You get to see so many people over the life of your arthritis and it seems every one of them has a different opinion. I can't help - sorry - but I do know how it feels.
It seems every time I see someone new (and I've seen a few over the last 10yrs) I have to go through the saga. They ask 'who said that' and in all honesty after 10+ yrs I'm blowed if I know.
    Best wishes

    HI,
I too don't know the answer and have come across similar problems myself and still dont' have a proper diagnosis after 3 years. I hope you get some answers, keep on asking the doctors! Love Suexx

    Hi Jayney,

Its often the way it seems.... you feel like shift and they tell you its all under control (or some do).

Doesn't sound right though to me and I wonder if you could have a chat about what it all means with either your rumo or with the gp? Might help with the confusion a bit.

With my wrists the more swollen they are the less they hurt so they actually hurt more when they are 'better'.... I think the swelling helps pad the joints a bit and well I don't really understand it but hope you will soon feel a lot better. Hang in there. Cris x

    Hi Jayney,

My doc once told me that the pain we experience doesn't always match what the docs are saying, but that doesnt mean that your pain isn't real or hurts more or less than anyone else, our bodies work in mysterious ways, and since i was diagnosed with an inflammatory arthritis my mind has boggled many times lol..

Heres a hug to keep you going ((())) take care..x

Thank you all for your kind words. It helps to know i'm not alone with this and not imagining it!

I'm not due to see my rheumy for a while but have an appt with the Biologics team with a view to starting that so will chat to them about it.

Thanks for all your advice too

    Take care of yourselves

Oh Janey, it was over 30 years ago now but I still remember the spring when my two small boys went down, in relays with chicken pox then mumps and finally the elder one was carted off to hospital with viral menengitis. I'm not sure how I managed to drag myself down the corridor for my rheumatology appointment only to be told, brightly, "Well, according to your blood tests, you're doing well." I think that was when I began to take blood results with several pinches of salt.
