Hi All,

As some of you know I have psa, I have been having infliximab infusions for about eight months now, along with taking methotrexate I seemed to be doing ok, well on wednesday this week I woke up with terrible pain around my right hand side front and back in lower ribs, also going down my shoulder in to my arm, I saw the doctor wednesday evening after leaving work early as even breathing hurts and talking takes my breath away, I have been off work since and usaully try to work through it all but the pain is so intense i'm unable too, over the past few months I have been experiencing lower back pain, and I was wondering if this was typical of the arthritis. Im due my next infusion on wednesday next week so hopefully this will sort me, Ive not experienced pain like this for the past six months or so, just the every day pains that you tend to just get on with, has any body else experienced this?. (sending gentle huggs to you all) x

I can't really offer anything here but I thought I'd bump it up in the hope that someone who could might see it. I've not had rib pain though I get it lower back. What did the doc say, Chinup? I take it your arthritis hasn't affected these parts up until now. I would mention it to the people doing your infusion next week. I hope it'll improve asap.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

    Hi Chinup.

Are you feeling sick or nauseous with it?
Have you any Gall bladder problems?

I would go and get it checked again by someone as you sound in a lot of discomfort.

Hope you get it sorted soon , good luck.

Hi, Thanks for bumping up stickwickit, Ruby and Valval thanks for your replys, I had my gallbladder removed 12 yrs ago, and the pain is almost identical, the only way I coud describe the pain to the doctor was like gall badder pain, maybe I have two gallbladders :!: joking a side, I have been led down in bed all day and find it eases the pain, until I have to visit the little room  valval I think you are right with the breathing, I am breathing shallow to try and avoid the pain, sorry you are suffering with this as well in your sternum, I must admit looking back I do get pains every now and then in that area with alot of discomfort but have always put it down to heart burn :?

Hi Chin up, I too have PsA, and have had various mysterious pains, one of them being exactly as you describe (and these coming and going pains, seem to worry me more!)... for me, it turned out that I was not getting on to well with the MTX, and my liver was suffering, hence pain in that right hand side region, just under or on the rib, and a general malaise. The pain was severe sometimes, I found a hot water bottle sometimes helped, along with not sleeping on the side and of course, I had to stop the MTX. I take sulfasalazine with infliximab every 4 weeks now.

Wishing you better and hoping that you get some relief soon fellow fighter! x

    Hi Chin up,

Nice to see you again but sorry about your ribs. I also have pa and its gone after my ribs as well. You need to just run it past your gp or rumo though but sometimes a steroid jab in the sternum can help. That can work for the condra wots it called.

Mine is the ribs themselves and they could do a jab into each rib either side of the sternum but they tell me its really invasive.... I think the pain doc means it hurts.

Hang i there and just run it past the medics in case its infection. Cris xx

Ahhh glad thats out of the way and the gall bladder is not a cause.
Have you looked at sphincter of odi syndrome?

I suffer from this ,,,but aside from that do get it rechecked as removed gallbladder still throws up a few other oddities regarding the bile ducts.

hope its soon ok... I know just where you are coming from Chinup.

It's worth seeing your GP about if it persists, just to get checked out for any infections etc which could have caused it. I've had Costo before Arthur, it's common in Fibro patients, and it's horrible :(

    Hope you feel better soon!
