i have just had a text some one saying they can help me with my insurance for the accident i had.
could not open the text it jammed my phone.
so i took the sim out and put it in my hubby's mobile that is how i knew what was said when i looked for all my mobile numbers on my sim they have all disappeared how can that happen and how can i unjam my mobile.
then i put the phone number in Google and it came up as a mobile in India..
cannot believe this..
has anyone else experienced this..

hi
this is either a virus or phishing message which will cause damage to your phone and can corrupt everything which it looks like its already done.
first thing to do is contact your service provider and give them all the details including the phone number in india.
hopefully it hasnt hacked all your contacts phone numbers or emails.
ps. as you put it in your hubbys phone that could also be infected now. he needs to contact his service provider as well.
keep us posted on what happens next0 -
ahh thanks for that dj
we will contact our service provider..lucky we have not got any email addresses there..not that good a mobiles as we are no wizz kids..
only payg mobiles..
thanks georgie0 -
thanks dell for that..
i got in touch with my service provider.. he tells me it would be cheaper to buy a new payg mobile.. rather than pay them to fix it..so that is what i will do.. but your future ref plan sounds good when i buy a new mobile..

I've had a few of these type texts lately, I always delete straight away..
I also have the AVG scanning app. Pretty good if you have a smart phone and you can get the free version which is what I have..
Set of "$£^&(*)*()(__)+_ (translate as you like) :x :x
I hope that you can sort it without incurring too much costMe-Tony

Oh Georgie, what a pain. I think you should both get new phones (they don't have to be pricey do they?) and start from fresh. Back up your numbers on your computer - I have mine wrtitten down in a diary too! - and just delete any texts like that, never read them. (()) DDHave you got the despatches? If it works for you, Georgie, then that is all that matters. Good luck with it - I hope you can learn your new number! DDHave you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben0

All sound advice, NEVER EVER open or respond to ANY txt message you don't know who it's from and or what it's about, even silly ones, if your phone doesn't recognise who it is bin it ASAP. Oh by the way Mr DJ love the cat with the headphones!.0
