I am due to have a wrist fusion at Wrightington hospital in a couple of months time. If anyone else has had this done I would be very interested to hear about the situation straight after the op. I guess the arm is heavily bandaged but are the fingers free, can you use your finger/thumb tips at all?

    Hi cancan

I've not had it done, I just wanted to wish you luck with it.

I'm sure someone on here has had it done and can help you.

    Hi

A hairdresser at our salon had this done and she couldnt go back to work for couple of months afterwards so guess the fingers werent too free enough to do that..She did say she got excellent treatment and she was glad she found the option (she lives 90 miles away) but as it was due to a bad fall it was essential..

    Hope that helps...

    Hi Cancan,
I have just bumped up a thread called ‘Osteoarthritis and wrist fusion’ a lovely lady called Iris (Dorcas) has written on there about the op and the post op experience. Hope this helps, then if you
go to the search button at the top of the page and type in wrist fusion operation you will get some more past posts on the subject.

Good luck with it all and please let us know how you get on.
