Hi Emma,
SO sorry i have been away so long but its been stressful. The last week of work was very hard, parents crying coz we are closing and saying goodbye to the pre-schoolers. Then trying to sort out moving and that went tits up same as everything i do :x
I had my op yesterday they put an extra clinic on to catch up and because i had been waiting since january i was picked. At first i panicked coz i wanted to get moved first but a hold up with the mortgage i didnt have a completion date so decided to just go for it and what will be will be!!
I was put to sleep, its standard at blackpool vic thank god, my blood pressure was up but not surprising i was so stressed. I was in at 11 and was supposed to be next on the list but they decided to do someone else first but hey i watched the rowing in the olympics YAY!!
The worst bit was i was takent to a room to change and the nurse washed my foot then took me to another waiting room and told they would come for me soon!! it was about an hour and i was freezing but then it went fast i was knocked out I woke and was taken back to a bay where i had the best cup of tea then 2 more but i was the only person in there so i got lots of attention. only an hour later i was on my way home with dodgy shoe in hand and crutches i couldnt get the hang off!! i have no co-ordernation unless intoxicated
I was fine yesterday rather jolly all day, i started getting twinges so took the tablets but they make me feel drunk. I slept ok i took some more painkillers at 6.30 this morning but i have felt a bit sick all day and tired.
Unfortunately my partner has to work he couldnt get time off but my friend has been ace, the boys are ok well 1 is the other didnt know i had been to hospital and back as he was in bed. He
saw me at the top of the stairs on a toilet run and just shouted LOL nice bless him.
Its been more painfull walking on my heel today but i expected it to be and it hurts having it elevated on my bed its easier if i just lie down but im doing as im told and keeping it up. Dont know what the surgeon has done as i havent seen him but i suppose he will tell me when i go for stitches out.
How are you getting on now? did you have insoles made after your op? and how is the movement coming on? Hope your well and recovering
Love Julie x x
Ps completion for the 17 of this month finally so i will be watching them all work i hate relying on people. x x x0 -
Hi Julie,
Im pleased you finally got your foot operation and i hope things are going well for you and you're not in too much pain!?
Im 10 weeks on now and although i would say, my toe joint isn't as painful as it was before the operation, it certainly isn't 100% better, i still get pain when i walk. The surgeon did say to me that my joint didn't look too great and that he had done the best he could, so i wasn't expecting it to be a total cure!!
I would say it has been worth it, but i now have to accept that this is my lot and i willl always be limited in how far i can walk and what shoes i wear!
See what the surgeon says when you see him and make sure you do the exercises they tell you to do!
Good luck and good luck with your house move, you now have a good excuse to just supervise everyone!! xLOVE EMMA X0 -
Hi Emma,
well iam on day 9 doing ok keep trying to do a few things as walking on my heel is fine but its when i sit down and put my foot up i realise i have done too much!! wierd!! I did too much on saturday, washed hair, changed bed, cleaned up after animals but only took me half hour, them bam!! the pain had to take co-codamol and i only took them for 2 days after. They make me feel drunk.
I spent the rest of the weekend on bed rest but coz my partner works 12 hour shifts i have been grumpy left on my own all the time!!
I have had to take the dressing off as it was working its way off my toes going to have it re-dressed tomorrow at out local same day centre as i only have an appointment for my stitches out on the 21st. Thats 17 days with stitches in Its a neat job but unlike you my stitches are on the outside, well it looks like a blanket stitch
Iam pleasantly surprise how good i feel and i thought i would be in more pain but i feel fine till i walk. I have pulled my stomach muscles (the ones i didnt know i had) that with keep pulling myself up on the bed, so got more pillows to sit higher.
Sleeping hasnt been a problem at all so im pleased about that.
Im going to do longer stints of pottering around the house this week as i have to pack the final bits im moving next week yay!!!! finally, fingers crossed nothing goes wrong again.
I hope your well and recovery is being good to you. Take care for now
Love Julie x x0 -
How are you guys all doing now?
I had surgery on both feet in May and just looking for more info on recovering!0 -
Hello tenaj. It's nice to meet you. Unfortunately, I don't think these guys have been around for a while. I've not had foot surgery myself though several people on here have. If you start a new thread someone is more likely to see it. I hope your recovery is going well.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.
