Hiya
I created a bit of a scene this morning in our local post office...Went with me dad and seat was occupied by a nice lady who had had her hip done recently so I was okay standing...Dad wasnt too long and then on way out he decided to take photos for BB application so he went to counter to get change and I went to seat to rest...Trouble is bad leg witih arthritis (need new knee) gave way and down I went, breaking a perspex shelf and in amongst the crossword books....
The two women who work there, a man at counter and my dad all rushed over, was I okay? I had managed not to land on my bad leg but hadnt half given my good legs hip a whack...Trouble was didnt know how to get up as usually put good leg behind me and grab something in front of me and get up with assistant that way....In the end had to be upended by my arms.....Think Im going to have a bonny bruise tomorrow....
This is second time ive fallen over, 2 weeks ago fell over as tripped over iron flex in house so hope this isnt going to be a regular tirck I perform...Have bursitis of hips and osteochondritis of left knee...
Happy days...

The dreaded combination - pain and indignity  Take it easy for the rest of the day, Elaine. It will have been a shock too.If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

Ouch Elaine, you poor thing. The problem is those silly legs just don't do what we tell them sometimes and we say step up/over they don't bother.
Anyway, lots of arnica cream on that hip and a nice cuppa.

Hope you are okay Elaine and not made anything worse. As I said on fb you should log these falls as shows you are in need of that blue badge.
Hugs

Hi Barbara
I gave everyone a shock I think including my dad and myself! I guess I must have fallen to protect the bad knee as the good leg took the force of it all...
Hope you dont follow my act...

i had a couple of falls at work and a couple of near misses at home on the stairs .
Hope the bruising doesnt end up too bad

Hi Legs
When you say a knee support do you mean the elasticated ones? If so my knees are too chubby and they roll down but I could be thinking the wrong thing?
My bruise is coming up nicely complete with a pierce mark where i went against the perspex shelf!!

Elaine firstly you are allright but bruised - you will recover.
Secondly you must look to make sure you don't fall again.
I suggest a call to see your GP for a referral to OT for something to keep you on your feet. Have you thought of sticks, or are you bad enough for a scooter or wheelchair?
I am concerned in case the next fall you have will really do some damage to yourself.
Sorry to be all doom and gloom but prevention really is better than cure.

Hi Elaine,
The knee support I have is held in place by velcro fastenings so it would fit any size knee and not roll down. I bought it from the local chemist. The cost on the Internet, from what I've seen, is about £10.
Hope this helps.

Hi Steve
Thanks for your message...Im no way bad enough for a scooter or wheelchair, have the arthritis in left knee and its getting replaced hopefully early next year or end of this year (consultant wants me to delay a bit cos im young, 43)...I am seeing my doc on thursday as was suffering also from bursitis of hips pain too so see what she says...
Thanks for being thoughtful though....Im hoping I wont make it three times this month!
Bruising now come out fully and is stinging...
