Hello all

Ive been called up for jury service but am worried as I am unable to sit for long periods due to my back - will they force me to do it?...never mind the journey on public transport to get there would leave me in pain.

Ask your GP, he may excuse you on medical grounds.

Thanks Ron. I dont know whether to send the form off first and if denied then see the doc. I have put on the form i cant sit still for long due to back and need to move about - got enough on my plate with other stuff without this rubbish!!

They wont excuse you without your GP's say so. It happened to my wife when she was called for jury duty.

    Hi Ron
Did your wife send form off then get doc note/letter after? If i ring doc tomorrow i dont think i will get an appointment before 7 days up when form expected back, dated 27 april! - also, guidance notes say if have/ had any mental conditions you cant serve-i have had depression in past -do you know how that fits in? its not v clear

My doctor gave me permission to put his details and phone no on the forms as unable to sit , stand or manage without a carer . I received a reply a couple of days later exempting me . Jillyb

Thanks Jilly. letter came today and i have been so worked up about it all day and too wound up to even have my dinner tonight! I dont know how i would get there as cant stand on public transport and courts in city centre so driving a nightmare, then i cant sit rigid because of my back - i would be crawling out of the place and in pain.
I think i will post it and appeal if thats possible. Plus i have children with health problems, i ve put that on the form too. I think they would be absolutely horrid to make me go.
