Fibromyalgia and Baclofen

Sorry for another post but I have just been to the doctors and am feeling a bit confused.
About a month ago I saw my own doctor (he's just retired) and he told me to do a body map and diary of my symptoms as he thought I could have fibro. I did this and took it into the surgery about 2 weeks ago whereby the doctor took my map and scanned it into the computer but didn't say anything more.
I went to the docs again today and saw a senior doctor who my doctor had recommended but I had avoided like the plague for years as he was so awful when my kids were little.
Anyway he noticed that I shake a lot of the time and tested me for fibro trigger points, which are really sore. I told him I'm knackered most of the time and sleep really badly. He asked me if I thought the Amitriptyline was causing this! how the hell am I supposed to know that? So I said I didn't think so, didn't know what else to say tbh.
He then told me I was taking Prozac, I said no it was Fluoxetine which is apparently the same  So learnt something new there.
He also told me that Fibromyalgia doesn't really exist as its just a range of muscle spasms that causes tension and pain through the muscle groups by making them pull too hard against the bone.
He said no amount of painkillers will help but prescribed me Baclofen 10mg to be taken 1 up to 3 times a day as required. What does this do?
How am I supposed to know when to take them? How do I know when I need them? I should have asked but was all a bit dazed by everything.
He wrote in my notes that I have widespread trigger points for Fibro. but didn't refer me to a rheumy person.
Sorry its a bit waffly but I'm just so dazed and stressed.

Aww Fols, that sounds like a disappointing appointment! No wonder you're stressed and confused. I'm sorry I don't know anything about those meds, maybe you could ring your Pharmacist. I hope you get some answers soon.
Warmest wishes,

Hi
Sounds to me like he has contradicted himself and meant that you take the tabs for pain, up to 3 times per day? Now you have remember why you have avoided the man for so many years, I suggest you continue to avoid him in the future, Lol x

I don't think I will go back to him. He sat there and said to me, well tell me about yourself? I thought surely you should know, you got my notes etc. I didn't really know what to say.
Then he said that fibromyalgia was a symptom and not an actual illness and painkillers won't help so what did I think he could do? How am I supposed to know, I'm not a doctor!
Any way apparently the med is a relaxant and I mustn't take it and drive cos it can make me very groggy. Great, takes me blummin ages to get going as it is.
So all of you suffering from fibro, your no longer sick so get back out and work along with those who have been miraculously cured of Arthur by the DWP

Thanks Jane.
There is one lovely doc but you just can't get an appointment with him. I tried to get one with him last week and was told the earliest I could get an appointment is 16th July
I might see what some of the others are like.
