Hi All

Trust you all had a lovey bank holiday whatever you all did?

On saturday I was on my own for two nights and was just putting away some underwear in my mum and dads room and one minute I was up, next was laid out like a starfish face down on the floor. I had no way of getting up as tried to pull myself up via holding onto drawers but couldnt...Could just about reach a phone so called 111 the non emergnecy number....
Not sure how long was there but then two ambulance men came and got me up via a wheelchair and sat me in living room...Problem was they wanted to take me 25miles away for a xray and I couldnt as would have to have found my own way home and as im on ESA thats not viable...So they settled me gave me out of hours doctor number, got me water and placed phone next to me...Its daft really as there is a good hopsital just up road from me but they no longer take injuries such as mine (which was classed as significant loss of mobility).....
So have had all neighbours coming asking was i okay etc, this is 3rd fall in about 2.5 weeks...I need a new knee and it would appear its getting worse..

Elaienx

    Awww Elaine
What a shock that must have been to you.
I dont know how they would expect you find your own way home from that distance away???
Any point in getting in touch with hospital and telling them how bad it is and see if they will move where a TKR is concerned??

    Love

So sorry to hear about this Elaine. The shock must have been awful. Can you use it in the hope of getting earlier surgery? It will obviously have been documented. I think you said you were having to travel quite a bit to see a Consultant anyway, so could you perhaps look at other hospitals? When I had my TKR, I was given the "Choose and Book" option, and went to a hospital some distance from home, but closer to family. I believe it`s still an option for anyone prepared to travel.

Take it easy today.......eat a bit of choc!!!........Rosie....x.

Well one of them thought if i got a taxi back it may have been covered but i doubt it and i couldnt go on a maybe decision...
I was in touch with wrightington last week asking for surgery to be brought forward but got told to speak to my own gp and cant see her till 16th....It seems ive reached my target weight like they wanted me to but now they are still putting me off...

    Hi Rosie

The short answer is no...I travel to wigan because the surgeon at my local hospital was such a horrible git he refused to treat me only offering to take my kneecaps out take it or leave it...So i went to wigan in the hope of getting surgery and have ticked all his boxes losing weight but now am being made to wait 6 months up at the end of sept....
I was told last week too that once they have made a decision then their mind then little can be done to move that decision..

    Elainexx

Ps..Wont cave in with choc it aint worth it!

    oh dear Elaine not good,

i fell the other night going up my daughters really low steps... like slow motion... my daughter was saying 'oh mum mum' pmsl' and trying not to laugh stop me from going over but stumbled more and scrased my finger nastily

over the years i have broken many bones so am afraid of falling... i missed my footing on the BOTTOM stair some years back and the stairs open onto my front door which was wide open with kiddies playing on the doorstep, i landed on my own foot and couldnt get up the pain was excrutiating... had to have an ambulance as i was in so much pain and had heard it 'crack' then to be told by the 'sister' at the hospital it wasnt broken, left me in agony for almost 5 hours... then a sikk Dr saw me and didnt like theswelling and pain so ordered another xray... he was so cross it had missed the break along with a very nasty sprain, it was black and blue, the sikk Dr wanted to help them plaster it as he was so cross...

Elaine, becareful its horrible falling especially when alone.... had my left knee replaced 5 years ago next month.... hope u soon get your surgery... i would get some lightweight exercises going to help ur knees....i saw during physio many ladies exercising so the new knees/hips worked better before the operation
    love and hugs

    Hi Julia

Well we have only just had a radiotherpay unit put in at our hospital..They also took away the cardiac wards few years ago so if you have heart attack its 25miles away too by which time you could be brown bread!
It wasnt the best being on me tod, felt a right twit to say the least...Blokes were very good ...
