    Hi Liesa

I am a fellow Raynauds sufferer and have OA in hands and wrists. I really sympathise, the cold damp weather seems to make things worse for me and my joints are very stiff and sore recently, although I am still off the AIs, although I don't know how long I can do it for. I control the Raynauds with Nifedipine, it seems to stop the worst of the spasms/attacks, although my hands and feet never ever get warm and are a permanent shade of red/purple!

I find that, painful though it is, gently exercising my hands just by clenching them into fists and then bending each finger individually does give some help and stops them becoming like claws. Using heat (bath, hot water bottle) does tend to make exercising them easier.

Have you RA or OA in your hands? I am still not convinced mine is OA, although I don't tend to get hugely swollen and reddened joints. I know that many Raynauds sufferers also have RA.

    Hi Liesa,

I also have raynaurds as a secondary to the acrocynosis and its not funny is it?

Mine is treated with losartin ( I think its spelt like that) and a 4monthly infusion with iloprost and well it might be more tablets for you but it does help. I did take the Nifedipine but it wasn't strong enough but the ilopriost is and often with raynaurds you only need it once a year so hang in there and i hope he will help you. Cris xx

    hiya,
i havent been put on medication for raynaulds, its only in one hand, i can tolerate it in just the one, i had tests for R, 5years ago and was due to see the consultant at the hospital the week i had my knee replaced (i was given a cancellation appointment wednesday 20th june 07 to go in next morning and told them my hand dr appointment was 26th/06 they said they would change it for me which they didnt do, i never chased the appointment as they already said it was raynaulds, didnt want anymore meds, as its just the one hand

often i just put my hands in warm soapy water and it does soothe them as it warms for a little while xxx

    Hi Tracy
sorry i didnt answer sooner, i also have celebrex to add to the ever increasing list of medications to help the RA, still having problems with my fingers/knuckles but it does feel like its doing something as the pain is less, trouble is im not noticing the pain as much so use my fingers in the normal way which ends in crying out as i have moved them where they didnt want to go, its the index finger and little pinkie thats affected along with the knuckle pad on the palm...

feeling so frustrated as my hip is becoming more painful! grrr

    hope your feeling ok?
