She has a ‘stinking cold’ and her joints have joined the party. It’s about time the poor lass had a bit of a break but clearly her body feels differently. I’m sure she could use a few hugs. I hope you feel strong enough for these, DD. ((((()))))

Thank you Sticky, for letting us know.
DD, I am so sorry you are poorly again. Do you think you are generally run down, with all that has happened recently?
I do hope this is short lived. Rest and revivify my dear friend.
    With fondest wishes,
    Numpty

It's gone to her chest, she's wheezing away and sensibly planning to sleep most of the day.

I agree with you, Numpty. A bit of R & R is required.

Please tell DD that I am thinking of her, and wishing her better, Sticky. She was very kind to me when I first joined the Forum, and seems to be always there for everyone.......Rosie.

Thank you everyone, you are all very kind and I appreciate your messages. It's my own damned fault - I work with children who are (let's face it) little breeders of all sorts of nasties and I have 'lost' the habit of spraying them, me and the equipment with liberal doses of anti-nasty stuff. Factor in the auto-immune arthritis treated with suppressant meds (of which I took a hefty dose on Monday) and it's no wonder I'm in trouble. I know I'm ill as I have lost my appetite - :( - and I've stopped drinking wine.

Fortunately Mr DD is working at home today but somehow it's still me that's making the tea etc. I love him to bits but nursing ain't his forté. Right, it's time for a shower and to change the bed. I've been festering in this pit for far too long. DD

    Heya DD,

I'm really sorry to hear you are feeling poorly hun. Try to rest up best you can but also get a little fresh air as its good for the lungs. Lots of tea as well as the caffeine helps to open the sinuses.

    Big but gentle hugs xx

Oh DD, I am so sorry. It never rains but it pours!
As if being poorly isn't enough, you're off your food and (more seriously I think) wine!!!
I really hope this sad state of affairs is short lived!
    Wishing you well,
    Numpty

    Hello friend DD

I am so sorry you are having such a ruff, ruff time and I wish I could wave a magic wand and make it all better for you. But sadly I've never got the hang of wand waving and would probably end up turing you into a warty toad or something  .

So the best I can do is to say that I am thinking of you lots, sending (((())))s and wishing you, to use your brilliant phrase, back to moderately grotty very soon.

    Love Tillyxxx

It's one of those tiny clauses that we all forget to check in the marriage licence.

As I understand it, we wimmin merely get colds whereas they invariably have flu. They even have it in the middle of summer despite flu jabs. Did you ever hear of a prop forward being unable to play due to a cold? No, it's always flu - usually 'a touch of flu'. Now we all know that flu doesn't 'touch' you: it flattens you. However, a 'touch' of flu enables the sufferer to rise from his sick bed at opening time and stagger manfully down to the local to spread his germs like a good 'un.

However, my friend, you, being a woman, simply have a cold and, as every bloke knows, these are best treated by not allowing the patient to become anxious because their spouse is behaving uncharacteristically thoughtfully. What he feels you need is as much normality as possible. Hence, allowing you to brew up as usual is merely his way of saying he cares.

Mine makes a great cuppa but I tend to have had to spend at least 3-4 hours on an operating table before I can access one. (I forgive him all for one portion of his garlic mushrooms.)

Being off wine is serious. Get it checked out if it persists.
If at first you don't succeed, then skydiving definitely isn't for you.

More thanks from me to you all - and especial thanks, Sticky, for the giggle! I had to grin at you, tillytop, for the inexperienced wand-waving comment but I reckon being a warty toad is better than a toady wart. I definitely feel like the latter.

I managed a shower but the pit-changing has been delayed and now may well not happen. It's only my side that's - ummmm - unpleasant but as it's my unpleasantness I think I can cope. DD

Ooooooh Barbara! There's a thought - I need one of those small transparent greenhouses (placed in the front porch), some rubber gloves and an industrial-sized bucket of Dett*l anti-bacterial spray (not advertising, other sprays exist and are just as good). I suppose the little darlings would also need a mask of somesort. I'll cancel tomorrow's work (who needs money?) and then from Monday I will be back with the sprays and hand gel etc. I will also wash all the plastic stuff I use and spray the various alphabets etc I have. I will beat the germlets at their own game! DD
