Hello,
Yesterday, I had a really positive appointment with the physio, who examined me, listened to me, and gave me a few simple exercises to help my back, hips and neck! She said that I must stop as soon as I feel pain and not work through it thinking the exercise is doing more good!!! Next week, she is going to work on my hands and wrists. She says that my general muscle strength is not too bad for my age! :( She is going to try and get me hydrotherapy, but it is popular, so may have a wait.
It was great talking to someone who listened and seemed interested. She may ask for a blood test for RA, as my hands look more RA than OA. I had been very depressed, but she cheered me up and made me feel more positive, which is half the battle for me. Love Suexx

I've had a 'busy' time of it, but in a nice way. It was our Silver Wedding on Wed and my birthday on Friday, but we decided not to do too much or have a party as our families and friends are all over the country now, and my Niece in a care home, it seemed to difficult and stressful to arrange! But we did have a very expensive weekend away!

I'm glad you had a good appt, Sue. Yes, hydro is always popular. As I recall, you are more likely to overdo than underdo the exercises which is probably why she warned you  It's good that you had a good weekend and are feeling more positive. Keep us posted.

Oh Sue first of all congratulations on your silver wedding anniversary..and a Happy Birthday...
I am really glad your appointment went well, doesn't it make a difference when someone takes the trouble to listen to you, I really can hear the difference in you, and if you feel so down you go and have a chat with your GP dont let it get out of hand.
I do wish you well with everything and please let us know how you are getting on. xxx
    Love
    Barbara

Cor! Good things abound for Sue and about time too. I hope you enjoyed your 'quieter' anniversary and birthday and I am so pleased to read you had a positive physio apppointment - it does make such a difference when someone listens and helps in a such a thoughtful/kind way. No over-exercising now, you hear? Take care. DD

The physio was good and although after writing to you, I've had a few bad days, I think thats due to me overdoning it! I'm trying to be more positive about all parts of my life. I think I've been blaming myself for the arthritis and then getting depressed, which is, for me a good triger for pain. My muscles stiffen and I don't do the things I know help me, so I've got to learn to relax more! Easier said than done! Anyway, I'm going this week to work on my hands, which are so painful at the moment.

Thank you all for the kind messages. Firstly, we had a lovely time and the food was out of this world! I can't beleive its 25 years since the wedding, as it seems that time has flown past. Not all good and sometimes I've thought 'is it really worth it?' My answer to myself is Yes. when I think of all the problems, sorrows as well as happy times, well were would I be without my other half? Especially now, with this b#####y arthritis!

    Hello Sue

So glad you had a good physio appt - and that you had a lovely anniversary and birthday! Congratulations on those by the way! I am very impressed by your comments about trying to be more positive - I know how difficult it can be but you have all my admiration for working so hard to keep a positive outlook despite the difficulties.

    Thinking of you.
