Hi there everyone...

The last couple of days, my knees are looking most weird...

I have OA in both knees (not replacements)

They are quite hot in places, and although normally swollen currently the swelling has subsided.... but they look blotchy & redish.... There is no reason why there should be an infection, the wounds are WELL healed from the surgery last december....

NB:- I have "not" applied any creams or medications which are any different.... neither have they been in the sun....?? and I have not done anything out of the ordinary...

Has anyone else experienced this, or have any advise / suggestions....

I have an appointment to my GP at the end of this week for a general review, so I'll mention it to him then, but thought I'd ask you guy's & girl's if anyone can help....

Even when my knees were hot with inflammation they never looked red or blotchy, just puffy and without definition. Now they're cold and nicely bruised (thanks to the meds) but have lumps on the outside which I think is the continuing development of the bone growth last seen on an Xray in April 2011. If yours are hot then maybe ice would help - I used to use bags of frozen peas wrapped in a tea towel so I wouldn't 'scald' my skin. Rest whenever you can, preferably with your feet up so that there is no pressure on your knees and I hope they feel better soon. DD
Have you got the despatches? No, I always walk like this. Eddie Braben

Hmmm I have OA in both knees and they are really lumpy, bumpy and swollen but never really looked blotchy.

I wouldn't over worry but get them checked when at the docs next and of course if they get worse or do anything else 'odd' get them down the docs for a gander.

I get this red blotchy marks appear on my knee's, What happens is they get really hot (both knee's) and then they get blotchy. It mainly seems to happen to me at night. Usually when I'm lying in bed watching the telly. My husband love's it when it happen's in the winter as he gets me to lean into his leg's to heat them up like a human hot water bottle! But he hate's it happening in the summer because he say's I'm a human hot water bottle and it gets to much in summer! I've never thought of it as a bad problem I've just put it down to another little weird perk of having Arther!

Answer... for those weird blotches from my consultant....

Because I have no cartiledge/protection under my kneecaps, when they are very hot & tired (after a long day usually) aparently he thinks it's just the heat & joints rubbing and friction.... so REST REST REST.....

Really gotta love this ARTHUR....... NOT.....
