Hello all,

I'm having truly awful pain in my wrists. They've been bothering me for months now. My left is much worse than my right and the pain is becoming excrutiating. I've had reduced movement in them both and they click all the time which is painful. As soon as I start to drive in the morning, that's it, they're painful the rest of the day. Lately though the pain is getting alot worse and it's there all the time. I now have swelling in the wrist area and even lightly touching the area is awfully sore.

I've still had no word about my rheumy appointment and after getting the dr to chase it up 3 times, I don't know what else to do. The pain-killers and pregabs aren't touching it at all :(

I'm away to put some frozen peas on it!

I'm sorry to hear its awful isn't it. I'm not sure what pregabs are? Do u take anti inflammatories? I don't have anything else to suggest except u have my sympathies. X

    Hi Millie,

    Thanks for your kind reply.

Pregabalin, sorry! It's for the fibromyalgia but my dr says I can use it for pain relief too. I can't take anti-inflamms cos of my sensitive tummy.

    Hi
My arthritis originally started in my wrist well join of the thumb,it got so bad I couldn't even hold a pen I had a cartazone injection that did help I took declafenac (spelling) my dr prescribed Lansapransadol (spelling) to help my tummy, my Rhum refered me to a Orthapist who made me some custom braces which I wore for 6 months day and night, I went to the HR dept at work and ask for an assessment, they got me a special key board which helped. Now 8 years later I still wear the brace when I am doing the garden or cleaning windows, driving can still be troublesome but you soon find a position which is comft honest
    Good luck

    Hi Eileen

Now choccie just had a good idea. Maybe a steroid jab would help? Some GPs surgeries can do these....at least you will have an idea next time you see your Gp :?

    Love

Hi Magenta, my wrists are being nasty at the moment, been suffering with pain and my fingers have swollen big time that I can't get my rings off! And I keep getting pins & needles. I do have braces that I should where but I find it hard to use the computer when whereing them so only put them on when not using the computer naughty I know. Hope your wrists ease off soon so you can do what you want pain free!

    Hello Magenta

Have you thought about contacting the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (PALS) at the hospital where your referral has been sent? Many hospitals seem to have PALS teams, and you can often find the phone number on the hospital's website. If you phone them and explain about your referral, they may well be able to check that it has been received and to advise you about waiting times - or even to get you an appointment. I have used PALS at my hospital when I have had appointment hassles and they were brilliant.

    Just a thought.

    Hiya,

    Thanks everyone for your replies.

Loovechocolate, the horrendous pain started in the base of my thumb. I always thought it was tendonitis or something similar.

I've been thinking about phoning the hospital-I'm actually waiting for 4 different appointments! It's taking for ever this time.

Steroid jab! My GP wouldn't know what to do with one of them, they would refer me to hospital-again, another long wait.

I've been using frozen veg on the joint to try and calm it down. I keep hoping my letter(s) will arrive soon.

    I'll keep you updated,

    Thanks all,
