Just going through a hard time with my feet, ankles, elbows, neck and back just wondered if anyone else has experienced breathing trouble when things flare up.

Its like my rib cage cant expand properly so I find that I am taking in little breaths rather than big ones as if I try and take a big breath I get pain in my ribcage which then goes into my shoulders.

Im ok its just that im feeling achy and out of breath I havent any pains that I feel is something more serious (heart) and I have had this during previous flare ups just wanted to see if anyone else had these issues.

I am so tired aswell and hope things calm down soon Roll on bedtime :D and warmer weather.

Hi there. I too am having breathing problems but I'm struggling to figure out what is arthritis and what isnt! I'm exhausted achey wheezy with flitting arthritic pains. I have spent the last 5mths like this had one course of antibiotics. I'm coming to the conclusion its all due to ra but not sure what to do about jit. It's no fun is it?

    Justin

some folks have mentioned this sort of thing. I and some others do get inflamation in the sternum - is it likely to be that? I am sure one lass on here had steroid jabs into it.

Certainly you ought to speak to your doc about it when youget the chance.

Hope you are feeling better today.

    Love

Thanks for your posts I am feeling a bit better today still all achy and when having to go upstairs seems to make my ribs hurt when taking in deeper breathes I think its because when I have the pain I hold my breath in to to try and get through.

Its a vicious circle, Not sleeping well either which isnt helping but this is what its like isnt it good times and bad

Hope everyone is as well as can be and not suffering to much.

I mentioned it to my dr this evening as it was getting bad and they said as long as I am not weezing or coughing a lot with mucus/flem then it will be down to my condition but said if I get concerned to pop in and get checked over.

My chest is clear its just when I move and get spasm pain in my ribs and shoulders when its uncomfortable.

Hopefully it will ease up soon, I was told to keep on top with pain releif and I replied I have and now suffering constipatio, we both laughed as its a common side effect of the pain releif

    Thanks everyone.

    HI

    oh this ****** disease! :x :x :x :x :x
It gives us so many hurdles to jump over, then just when we think we've worked out where all the obstacles are, it finds more to frustrate us!

I know just what you have described, and to be honest your post is a relief in many ways to me - as I have worried over the past few weeks (despite getting a thorough check-up from a GP) that what I was feeling wasn't right. It isn't fair, pleasant or easy to deal with!

Like you, I struggle with knowing which is the RA, which the fibro, which is the hayfever, which is caused by my using the crutches more recently, oh and of course there's the constant pondering of which symptoms are side effecst of the many meds I take for all of the above

So .... if I learn any more I'll pop back onto this thread, and I'll be watching to see if anyone gets any good help from a doc, or ideas to help

    hugs ((()))((()))
    WOnky

PS - I'm discovering that the pain med-related constipation is being dealt with rather too successfully by the combination of hydroxycholoroquine and the addition of a much needed antihistamine      Another fun conundrum

    Hi Justin
I know the feeling well :| - when I get a flare my front and back ribs get sore and it can hurt when I breath and especially nasty if I sneeze. For me I have to stay stretching gently and do breathing exercises despite the pain to make sure I don't seize up. Hope it calms down soon!
